There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

The original 80's CD of this is probably the only mastering by Vic Anesini I REALLY like.  It may not be the original mix but damn it sounds good.  Actually I only think it was Anesini....  ???

Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde (1966)

If it's the one that I have, I like it too, Russ. Less harsh, as I recall.

Yeah the mix that was done for the DSD/SACD release may have been more faithful to the original stereo master, but it came across quite harshly, as did all of those Dylan SACD's IMO.  That shreiking harmonica... :(

Oh yeah, such a shame too, as it's such a great album. I was lucky enough to find an original copy that wasn't a secret remaster of the original. Curiously, the CD layer of the SACD is quieter than the secret remaster and folks at SHMF feel it was simply a level drop. I don't buy this and maintain that the secret remaster is a level increase of the quieter CD layer of the SACD. I have compared the two and the secret remaster sounds a bit more harsh IMO.

Very cool.
Indeed.
I had Fleetwood Mac, Rumors, Tusk, Mirage, and Tango in the Night on rotation for most of the day.

Mastered by Barry Diament  8)  Nothing but the best!

Why the hell does this album only rate 3.23 on RateYourMusic?  It's a great album!  I actually like this more than Face Value.  1982:

Me too, Russ. Face Value slowly grew on me, this one I loved instantly.

We should both get on RateYourMusic and give it 5 stars, to boost it up a bit  ;)

The songwriting on this album is so strong.  I always loved "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away"?  Go Phil!

(Please note the HIAA George - it's really hard to find a good image of the original LP cover.  Everything I could see was the CD cover, which has greatly enlarged text.  I still have an ancient LP of this, which would have been some of the earliest music I bought in my life - when I was about  14 or 15.  I may even have photographed that myself for this cover).

Yes, yes, yes!!! I came across album right when my relationship with my first girlfriend was beginning to crumble. Hearing it would bring me to tears, a very touching song.

That would explain the otherwise inexplicably low rating for Face Value too (3.33).  Honestly, I was expecting to see both of those albums with ratings around 4 when I looked them up.

Have you heard No Jacket Required George?  That album never happened for me because I couldn't stand "Sussudio" from the first time I heard it  ;D  I always wondered what the rest of the album was like though.

Yeah, I got it. It was the beginning of the watered down Phil, but it has some moments.

BTW, I just joined RateYourMusic, it's quick and easy.

Gotta run, Your gonna make me late for work again!!  $:)

You think you got problems?

I'm bitter, whining and sour, and I love both Genesis eras!  ;D

A more fitting moniker, indeed.  ;)
