Haven't heard the So album in an age . . . I'm tired of hearing the queerly clipped radio version of "In Your Eyes."  One of the lines excised in that Bowdlerization: "I see the doorway of a thousand churches."  I guess the "editor(s)" reckoned that eliminating a possible reference to Christianity was worth losing the rhyme for "searches."

Forgot just how tasty "Sledgehammer" is!

Karl, what do you think of Van Der Graaf Generator?

karlhenning

I don't think I've ever actually heard them!

Will do.

Peter Gabriel reminded me of Pete Hamill, of course.

Yes, he guested on at least a couple of PG's albums.

A Master. Yngwie Malmsteen's favorite guitarist and biggest influence. You can hear the things Malmsteen picked up from Uli all over this video.

So did mine. Quite nostalgic to listen to it. Him and the Bee Gees. And Jackson Browne.

My father had "Saturday Night Fever", "Main Course", and that "Spirits" LP, the one with the unintentionally hilarious "Tragedy" song. He also had some pretty cool stuff like Boston's first two, the Mac's Rumors, Box of Frogs, Frampton Comes Alive.

Yeah, I recall having this converation before with you. I thought we had the same Dad. ;D

Mine had all that and Queen, Dylan, Cat Stevens, Elton and Kiss.

I had the Kiss, he had the Elton. I still love that '70's Elton. It's strange, I never listen to the Beatles anymore, but I play Captain Fantastic, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Caribou, and Madman Across the Water regularly. Shame on me.

Early Elton is great! My faves are S/T and most of all - Tumbleweed Connection. :)

Those are terrific albums. The ones you like best are the most intimate sounding overall.
