Handel: Dixit Dominus [Fasolis]

This is a buoyant and jubilant live performance in good sound.

Charpentier, Marc-Antoine (1643-1704) - Baroque Vocal Music from the recordings below, the 'Lecons de Tenebres', a 2-disc set - Charpentier was an amazingly prolific French composer from the middle Baroque period; of course, his specialty was sacred music - his works were cataloged by Hugh Hitchcock (hence the use of H. numbers), and the entire list is HERE - I own just 7 discs, most shown below - reviews attached for those interested.  Dave :)

From the moment that I first heard Charpentier's music I have been an ardent admirer.

Happy listening here!  :)

Disc 5.  More of the good stuff.  This disc, Hob.XVI:20 gets the near magical makeover on clavichord.

Fauré: Requiem [Equilbey]

This is a very devotional interpretation which is wonderfully sung and performed. It has a very good presence.

Some supremely fine Brahms.  Probably need a shootout with Yang/Pace to determine the best set of the century so far.

I still feel like Marc Coppey/Peter Laul & Pieter Wispelwey/Paolo Giacometti are slightly better than this one, and maybe also Stevens Isserlis & Hough, which I haven't heard in awhile. But there's not much daylight between any of the top sets imo.
