In entirety, no. I've certainly seen odd bits.

Well, but you see, that is why I am determined to rectify that this month.

Haven't seen The Fly in at least fifteen years, probably closer to twenty. And l have no impulse to. Nothing against the film, I've always considered it well done all around, and l do enjoy good sci-fi. But my suspension of disbelief only goes so high, l suppose.

I have no quarrel with your finding no motivation to watch it (again).  That is pretty much how I would have polled, two weeks ago.  My eye fell on a $5 new DVD at the supermarket, and I thought, I have not actually seen the whole thing—so why not?

There's a lot of The Fly that I hadn't seen before. But (somehow) I had seen all the "shocker" bits ... so I could watch the whole with reasonable equanimity. Still, something of a wringer.

I do see myself watching it more than this once.  Plus watching it with the commentary.  But, no, I do not fault anyone for feeling they do not need to come back to it.  I feel rather that way about Dead Ringers, fantastically done though it was.

I'm with you there. Dead Ringers had me locked in, fairly unique film and a great performance from Jeremy Irons ( and Jeremy Irons ). But l think once was enough.

The Exorcist, the Extended Director's Cut, which was (we might say) Friedkin agreeing to re-release the film, as Blatty wished originally.  I approve of most of the restorations, with the provisional exception of The Buddy Ending 8)

Windtalkers....

Standard fare; watchable without being remarkable other than the facts upon which it was based.

Roger Ebert really, truly did not like The Buddy Ending, either!

lisa needs braces

I saw the new Blade Runner. Much like the original film, it's an art-house picture that has the surface of a blockbuster; by which I mean, it has the production values, visual splendor, and a premise that could belong to a sci-movie aimed at mass audiences, but it's really at heart an art film that moves slowly and is quite contended to exist in the moment and linger in the visual splendor and where the plot developments are mostly subdued. I liked it but did not love it, however the nature of movies like this is that I end up seeing them multiple times, so perhaps it will grow on me.

If art-house cinema is your thing (by which I mean you like directors like Terrence Malick) then go see the new Blade Runner.

ps:

the ending credits theme in the original movie is sublime

Criterion is running their 50% off promo. I was going to pre-order these two from Amazon last week and forgot, which I'm glad I did, saved another $10 by waiting for this.

Congratulations!

Keep an eye out for Howard Jarvis...

You may find the sequel to not be in the same class as the original, but it is still watchable.

Disagree with the tendency to negative reviews of this movie. I found the acting very convincing, photography superb, and Cate Blanchett absolutely ravishing here.
