Kaga2

The seven per cent solution

I remembered this as kinda cute. Parts of it are, but it really drags near the end, with a silly and extended action hero train chase. Thumbs down.

High Fidelity

One of my all-time, top-ten movies!

Have you seen the TV version? Of course it isn't as good as the movie, but it looks at things from a different direction. For one, Rob is woman. Zoe Kravitz.

Have you read the book? I was actually disappointed by the film mostly because of my fondness for the book which I'd read maybe three times before the movie came out - and because Jack Black is pathologically incapable of understanding that sometimes "less is more".

The Leisure Seeker

This is a very entertaining but very poignant film about an elderly and ill couple who take a road trip in a camper van. Very well acted by two very good actors. Definitely worth seeing.

Hudson Hawk.  Wow that was some crazy stuff...
The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

SonicMan46

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) w/ Daisy Ridley et al (including 'guest appearances' of Han & Luke; Carrie Fischer also present); streamed from Amazon last night - end of a franchise that I took my son to as a youngster decades ago!  Reviews mixed w/ 52% at Rotten Tomatoes - mostly loud CGI graphics - disappointing ending for me but I'd do a 3* rating on Amazon - recommended for fans who must see the last one - :)

The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936) w/ Paul Muni, Josephine Hutchinson, Anita Louise, Donald Woods, & Fritz Leiber - own as a DVD-R - talked Susan into watching this long time fav of mine (in view of the current pandemic) - Muni superb as Pasteur, often dubbed the 'Father of Microbiology' - for those who like this history, the book Microbe Hunters was an early influence; also another old film Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (1940) w/ Edward G. Robinson is yet another recommendation - Dave

Good Will Hunting

I have watched this film a number of times and I still think that it is such a wonderful set of performances from both Damon and Williams. It is an excellent story and portrayal from co writers Afelick and Damon.
