Sydney Lumet's Fail Safe. Dang, this is good!

Thank God for PBS.

The Leisure Seeker

This is a very entertaining but very poignant film about an elderly and ill couple who take a road trip in a camper van. Very well acted by two very good actors. Definitely worth seeing.

Still chuckling (a bit) over Walter Matthau's convicts VS. file clerks

Hudson Hawk.  Wow that was some crazy stuff...
The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

And curiously, Dom DeLuise (spelled "DeLouise") in a rare, serious role.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) w/ Daisy Ridley et al (including 'guest appearances' of Han & Luke; Carrie Fischer also present); streamed from Amazon last night - end of a franchise that I took my son to as a youngster decades ago!  Reviews mixed w/ 52% at Rotten Tomatoes - mostly loud CGI graphics - disappointing ending for me but I'd do a 3* rating on Amazon - recommended for fans who must see the last one - :)

The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936) w/ Paul Muni, Josephine Hutchinson, Anita Louise, Donald Woods, & Fritz Leiber - own as a DVD-R - talked Susan into watching this long time fav of mine (in view of the current pandemic) - Muni superb as Pasteur, often dubbed the 'Father of Microbiology' - for those who like this history, the book Microbe Hunters was an early influence; also another old film Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (1940) w/ Edward G. Robinson is yet another recommendation - Dave

Good Will Hunting

I have watched this film a number of times and I still think that it is such a wonderful set of performances from both Damon and Williams. It is an excellent story and portrayal from co writers Afelick and Damon.

The Tailor of Panama

Visual chewing gum. Not much to it really.

Second viewing. And thinking exactly what I thought the first time: that its a victory snatched from the jaws of defeat. Because a dramatization stopped mid filming by the death of its producer and finished as a "docu-drama" with linking narration and to-camera commentary by Tom Hanks ought to come off as the Frankenstein monster it is. And yet I feel in its hybrid format its quite probably better that the straight dramatic version would have ultimately been.

Hollow Point

A hard hitting thriller that is worth your time

Snowpiercer

First time viewing. I didn't know the director was Bong Joon-ho (Parasite). I usually avoid those kind of apocalyptic/dystopic films, but this is very good indeed.

Margin Call

A really very engaging film about when it goes really wrong in high finance.

Yes, I have seen that twice and it is indeed very good. It has a little more to offer than the usual, as you say.

Silly bit of information of the day: in Spain (not so in Spanish-speaking South American countries) a cardigan is called a...."rebeca". Guess where that came from?  :D

I haven't seen that movie in ages!  I do remember reading the novel by Daphne du Maurier when I was a teenager.  :)
