Somebody recalls a movie called "Tennessee Nights"(1989)? With the exquisite Stacey Dash? There -during a trial or audience- a crazy/extremely severe Southern judge asks Julian Sands' character  what music is being heard in the room. IIRC, the answer was Bach's Saint Matthew Passion, but curiously on IMDB just the Brandenburgs are listed as a part of the soundtrack. Somebody else recalls that scene? I know it: it's a stupidly weird question.    :)

FWIW, Antoine , I am all for any excuse to post pictures of Stacy Dash.  8)

Day off, so we went out to see Alice in Wonderland in 3-D -  :D

Tim Burton's rather 'updated' & darker version of the story - I really enjoyed the film, esp. in its 3-D format; Susan was less enthusiastic (see liked Avatar better; and I may have also?) - 3* & 3+* reviews in our local paper & USA today, respectively; 6.9/10 rating on IMDB HERE!

Stars - Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and Mia Wasikowska - Wasikowska (an unknown to me) was just adorable in this role - I might even consider a purchase (i.e. of the DVD and not her, but tempting -  ;) ;D) - WOW!  :o

I liked the 1951 cartoon version--no 3-D but jolly music ("I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date") and perhaps closer to the books. Of course, it came out when we were 5.
If music be the food of love, hold the mayo.

Little Big Soldier

Jackie Chan meets Hero.

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but this mix of Jackie Chan slapstick and tragedy seemed appallingly tone deaf.  Even worse, right after the tragic ending we get the usual blooper reel in credits!

The African Queen (1951) w/ Bogart & Hepburn - just purchased the newest RESTORED version - the colors are just natural and superb (if you love this film, then you must GET this version) - just a wonderful 'love' story of middle-aged spinsters in the middle of East Africa during the the WWI - filmed in Africa w/ John Huston as director - this is a movie not to be missed!  This NEW version a MUST for those who already own others (now inferior) and a MUST SEE for those interested in the actors, John Huston, and the period!  :D

I thought it was April Fools....glad I'm wrong! :D
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

My favorite scene from the movie, John McGiver as the Tiffany's salesman agrees to the engrving.

Visually, I'm not mad for either Tommy as The Mad Hatter, nor for Betty Boop as The Red Queen ; )

Bruce Campbell as Elvis and Ossie Davis, Jr. as JFK, out to kick some soul-sucking mummy ass, in Bubba Ho-Tep.
What's not to like?

Last night: The Bodyguard, with Kevin Costner & Whitney Houston

DavidRoss

is a fine movie.

Bodyguard
is crap, but I like it anyway 'cause the Costner character is so straight up.

SHERLOCK HOLMES

Mildly amusing.

I watched it this weekend too, and have to admit that setting aside my image of Holmes it's pretty darned good movie!  And ultimately in the end true to the spirit of Holmes. :)

I can always watch Robert Downey, Jr.
