I know you all think I'm nuts so I don't mind underlining against my better judgement that the long term deterioration of comment and trash software performance of this site parallels exactly what's been happening hundreds and thousands of times in our society in recent years: almost everything of value has been the target of subtle and deleterious attacks- Western culture's underlying character has been specifically reorientated against higher human values and achievements and there's virtually no response to it.

Art music radio in Britain no longer exists, libraries stack valuable recordings out of sight and access or sell them off, orchestras sell their populist concerts with the utter mindlessness and degredation of pop music, telescreens jabber pop culture at us on trains, buses, in the streets; I even came here in the first place because BBC Radio 3's forum was undermined by its own station and was rubbishized, later being stopped altogether.

Will the system here post this or just crash again? Coincidence? There's no coincidence- I'm getting off the boat altogether. The underlying fabric of worthwhile existence has been lost.

Is there anything we can do Teiresias?  Or is it hopeless?

Sean, I'm gently moving this to the Diner, since the "GMG News" section is more of a technical, housekeeping portion of GMG.  Rob generally uses it to let us know about changes in the site and other related issues.

You don't seem to enjoy life much, but don't blame it on outside factors.  The problem resides within you.

That's all very vague. What exactly ails you?

A thread of such fundamental importance being moved to the Diner ....... More evidence that the underlying fabric of worthwhile existence has been lost .......

What are we going to do, my friend, to do our share of recovering the lost?  :-\

Hi Gable & co. No problem, you don't see it, you're the cows in the field outside the abattoir: there's nothing wrong with your mindlessness, you're just cows and not supposed to see far past the grass to munch.

You're so deep.  Odd that all of the Thai prostitutes didn't relieve your ennui.
