No snow in Albuquerque; about 60 degrees and not a cloud to be seen.  I'm sitting on a lounge chair on my back patio, enjoying this gorgeous weather.

SNOW IN ENGLAND SO COUNTRY COMES TO COMPLETE STANDSTILL  ::)

Why is this? I don't expect that it happens in the USA, Canada, Germany, Holland etc etc.

Spent the day going back and forward to Gatwick Airport to collect my stranded daughter. The countryside did look beautiful however and as we drove through it Sibelius's 5th Symphony was on the radio - so there was a moment of peace and tranquility amidst the chaos.

Presumably because investing in the infrastructure to deal with it would be monumentally wasteful when it would only be used once every year or two... $:) Canada can't help but be good at dealing with snow ;) Still, I'm holding out for the gulf stream failing due to non-salt water dilution from the ice caps - that way we'll have nice Scandanavian weather, permenently, and a fleet of snow ploughs to match.

Yeah, I was laying it on pretty thick.  But please understand that New Mexico's claim to good living is all based on its weather and outdoor activities.  That's why so many Hollywood stars buy properties out here.  Of course, that leads to huge property price increases and higher property taxes (basic reason why many natives hate those immigrants from tinsletown.

Yes, I'm sure you're right. An MP was on the TV news explaining that the tax-paying public would be displeased if there were fleets of snow-ploughs being mothballed as they are only used every 18 years. Still, it annoys me that it is like the movies 'Deep Impact' or 'Armageddon' whenever it snows here. No trains, no planes, no buses etc etc.

I heard that London got some rare snow today which brought its traffic to a standstill.  I was shocked when I heard it was only about 15 cm, which is about 6".  This is not much snow by our standard.

Don - I've been up the Sandia Mtns near your fine city - must be some snow on those peaks this time of the year?   ;D

BTW - just got a couple of inches of snow in Piedmont, NC - our second 'dusting' of the season - won't stick to the roads, but may be slick in the morning (will be below freezing) - guess what?  I'm OFF tomorrow -  0:)

I had a lot of fun on the day when the news said the snow would move up north, but it ended up that my area got the heaviest fall. I was out for 4 hours taking snow pictures :P I came across possibly the wordiest gravestone ever (click for full size):

I like to imagine that the text carries on several feet into the ground... Snow makes even the crappest photos look good :D

Guess I'll have to climb to the top of the Sandia Mountains to avoid the platoon you've sent to dispatch me.

That is a neat thing about graveyards - the voyeurism. Families buried together, rich and poor, forgotten individuals, dead children: the works.

NO SNOW in Perth(Scotland) :( We don't seem to get snow any more these days :(

Send me some from the sunny, warm, tropics of southern England please ;D ;D

karlhenning

Very cold in Boston these past couple of days; so that 21°F right now, feels warm. High temp of 42°F will seem like T-shirt weather.

springrite

Not a single snowflake in Beijing this winter, which is weird. Now it is too warm to snow. I saw the first bud on trees this morning.
