I am delighted to hear that your sister's major operation went well - I hope that she recovers well. You have been through a lot! All strength to you and your family. :)

Hi Paul! I haven't contributed a lot to this thread lately, but I have been following it. I am glad to see your sister's operation went well.  :)

But we had the best brain surgeon on the planet who is also a friend of my schoolmate (a fellow brain specialist). They did excellent work and Sherry is now out of danger and recovering well. There is some partial paralysis of one side of the face but with rehab she is likely to recover most of that as well. Sherry has been in excellent spirit throughout, even helping encourage other patients. She is very popular in the hospital. I am so proud of her!

Just before the surgery, Kimi said: "Auntie get well. Play with Kimi soon."
I'm so glad to hear that your sister's surgery went well and that her prognosis is good.  I hope she will be playing with Kimi soon!

My sister is recovering remarkably. Two days after the surgery, the doctors expected her to stay in the hospital for a month and a half. Four days later she was able to come home. Now she can talk, go to the bathroom on her own, etc. She can eat anything without difficulty. I will go see her later this week. She will call me before I go to "order" what she'd like to eat and I will then buy the ingridients and cook for her!

This must be the year of surgery in this family. I will go under the knife on September 28th for a small tumor that is now infected on my right lower buttock. It is exactly where the weight goes to when I sit, so it is killing me. I had no time to treat that before now because I have Kimi and my sister to take care of first. Now it will be my turn.

I will have some new Kimi photos to share in a week or so, and maybe a photo or two of my sister.

Good news about your Sister and I trust all goes well for you too on 28th September and that you will be able to sit down in comfort after the op.  :)

For whatever reason, I can't post photos here. So I will e-mail Kimi's recent photo to a couple of people and maybe they can post it here.

Updates:

Kimi is now 1 and a half year old. She loves music and dance. Her favorite song is the one I sing to her every morning, the "aria" from "Oklahoma!". She loves it when I let the last syllable of "Everything's going my WAAAAAAYYYYYY" go on forever. This week she's suddenly into counting, and can count up to 10 in Chinese, English and Spanish. I don't remember actually teaching her that, but she just picks everything up so quickly, one has to be careful. Last night, after she counted to 10, I jokingly said "Jack, Queen, King..." and the next time mom asked her to count, she counted to 10 in Chinese and Spanish and in English she added J, Q and K! My bad!!!

Kimi sounds like a very bright little girl.  She will keep you hopping.

It was not until just now that I understood you wanted her pictures posted at GMG.  Sorry about that.  I'll be glad to do it anytime in the future.

A hearty thank you to Uncle Harry!

The girl in the first photo is Vanessa's niece.

Isn't it cute that she stood up to call for the waitress?

Kimi is talking a lot now, and she is a trickster. As Vanessa was changing diapers for her, she commented something about "who created this awful smell". Kimi said: "Daddy poo poo, mommy faint!" In fact, she has a habit of laying the blame on others all the time. As soon as she let go of some gas, she'd say: "Mommy farts." When she drops or breaks something, she'd say "nanny screwed up". She's the Ronald Reagan among babies.
