Why Saul, what if the rabbi of your congregation knew you were writing such things on the Internet? Would he say this is the conduct of a righteous Jew, a mensch? I would suspect instead he'd smack your tukkus until it was bright red for treating others so disrespectfully.

Yes, people could be banned, their posts edited or removed, the entire subject be blocked, or even removed. I pondered all those possibilities after having read everyone of them - oh the pleasure of being a moderator!  - and decided to leave all the exchanges intact for everybody else to read the exhibition of immaturity, rudeness and lack of civility displayed by the posters. I am an optimist and hope it will be a lesson and the perpetrators will spare us future evidence of their low respect for and tolerance of their fellow GMG members.

That's why I have said many times before that you are totally unqualified to be a moderator. You often don't get at all what's going on and many times, you delete the wrong posts when people complain. You also don't get that in this thread, Saul is the only one who oversteps from *teasing* other people which we do a lot here (like grownups often do) to direct, ultraprimitive insults.

I got banned once for attacking Saul in a much milder form.

I think he should get banned now.

Well, this is not a democratic republic, so we won't be having a poll. FWIW, my take on Saul is that he simply loves being abused, and throws out "abuse me" lures on a regular basis. And most of the  "far-more intelligent" people here don't seem to have the wit to toss the bait, but rather, they swallow it down every time. I highly doubt that a character such as Saul could tolerate being ignored, which is what most of his postings deserve. If you really wanted to send him off, he would soon be bored with being ignored and leave on his own.

Meanwhile, all this poop stuff is just crap. Let's quit that, shall we?

I will also add here, that I don't recall M being banned....Rob placed some restrictions on him and he took his leave and then subsequently returned. In fact, I can recall two such leavetakings.

If, Saul, you have really decided to ignore M and that you will not be making further response; then we can put the day in the diary as one which produced real progress.

Now, if anyone sees posts that break the rules, let us know.

I've read them all, Saul. In this case, your motives were probably just as you say. That is frequently not the case. And the accusations that you immediately revert to primitive defensiveness are quite valid.

How can any exchange fail to deteriorate from there?

In any case, I have read far too many of your posts over the years that you could convince me at this point in time that you aren't intentionally trying to get people to rag back at you so you can create your own chaos. I honestly don't believe that anyone is SO insensitive that he can't foresee the reaction that will be forthcoming from some of the things you post. Therefore, since I think you are actually a lot smarter than you would have people believe, I can only think that you do it on purpose. My advice then is "ignore him".

No, M got totally banned, and in the wake of that, several other posters left (among them Nigel W.) in protest to the ban and especially because it was the result of a confrontation between me and Saul, of all people, who really is more or less the most superfluous and annoying poster here. I don't remember exactly about what it was though, but maybe it will come back to me...

No you did not, though Nigel did leave when he was told you had decided to leave. Rob placed some restrictions on the way you could post and after a short time you decided you would rather not be here. You joined the new site; no one had any restrictions on them at that point.

I even recall your leavetaking, it excoriated everyone on the site and claimed no one was worth conversing with.

I am certain of what I am saying, I am also sure you are not trying it on; but have simply forgotten the circumstances. Rob has virtually never banned anyone.
