I finally found out his last name today. It's Gonzalez. Ubloobideega Gonzalez.
Now, if you lived over here, where the Casey/Caley Anthony story is on the news every day (since it's a local case), you might actually "get" some sort of humor/irony there. But you might have to think for a second, which would ruin the humor.

Believe me, your Ubloobideega thing has gone way beyond humour.

I might have to think about that for a second.

This is currently the most amusing (albeit slightly degenerated) thread on the forum. At least for some. 0:) I'm sure both Larry and Sforzando agree. Or at least one of them does.

karlhenning

A little tactful degeneration never hurt anyone.

I suspect that their feelings about the thread, whatever they might be, are in agreement.

After a long absence from GMG, I was happy to see the thread and run into some old acquaintances here, but distressed indeed to see indignities directed toward Larry!

I'm sure both Harry and Larry would enjoy the occasion.

Gee, I feel like I'm standing in the middle of Carter's opera ...

Today, Larry Rinkel exists only as legend.

Please. A comment like that only feeds his monstrous ego.

I am not sure whether the rule on personal attacks extends to ex-members, but I am sure you would not want to step over even that invisible line.

I have information leading me to believe that McCain and Obama were both ex-members, as were GW and Palin, both of whom only posted in the diner.  ;) (...and I have met GW on one occasion when my role was a protester.)

knight66

They were members on the old site, so it does not count. You can't kid me you know.

Perhaps you and your fellow mods can put your heads together and come up with a ruling.

Hi, Joe!!

And though Larry's a good guy, "legend" seems a stretch. Now, had I been able to make a buck off copies of his "Lessons in Tonality" tape (and believe me, I tried), I might have been more inclined to agree with the "legend" designation....

Hey, Mike, are you saying I can abuse members of the old site if they don't post on this one? (If so, good thing I came back, lest scorn be posted upon me!)

He is a legend only in his own mind.

Hardly surprising. I hear he's got hundreds of copies stacked to the ceiling in his closet; nobody will take 'em.

I was referring more to his elusiveness. That and his greatness as a crime fighter.

I'd like to hear more about Springrite's role as a protester. I've never appeared at a rally, but I've been protesting in my mind every day since 2001.

knight66

Larry is a crime fighter. I want to hear more.

As to the slagging off of members of the former site, only those specified. Obama, etc., people in the public eye. Owlice, have you been in the public eye? What have you been up to? Do we need to add you to the list of public figures open for brickbats?

Mike, it depends on how one defines "in the public eye." Certainly I've been seen by the public's eyes. There is nothing public about my figure, however.

I do so like the idea of smacking members of the former site, or even other sites. Please don't disappoint me by telling me I oughtn't do it!

knight66

I can deny you nothing and as I am about to buzz off for three days.....

Twice: Once against his economic policies favoring the rich. Another time and more famously, against him giving China most favorite nation status so soon after the 89 crackdown.
