Just for the record (and to bump this thread...) - Christo (Johan) and I met up with Dundonnell (Colin) this weekend. Christo showed him around Utrecht on Saturday and I did the same in Delft on Sunday. We had a meal in Amsterdam on Saturday evening, with a friend of Colin's and my sister (+ friend of hers) being present, too.

It was all very enjoyable!

Colin will be returning to Scotland later today. Expect some pictures soon(ish)!

Me too. How dare the 'Braga Santos Experts' meet without me - but I look forward to seeing the pics  ;D

Yesterday afternoon, when I took my leave of Colin (and Scott, a friend of his, a very nice chap), I referred to this same fact. That it would be justice if the four BSEs would meet one day. Although I foresaw this cataclysmic event would sink The Netherlands...

In a Chinese restaurant on the chaste but very crowded periphery of the red-light district (Zeedijk, to be precise)...

Yes, it would be as traumatic and have the same devastating consequences as a snow shower in England  ;D

Dundonnell

The afore-mentioned (and utterly exhausted!) Dundonnell has now arrived home after a long delay at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam because of the snow in Great Britain ;D

Although the London airports were closed and all flights cancelled, Edinburgh Airport had been kept open(just!). However the flight was delayed and Dundonnell spent a total of five hours enjoying the sights, sounds and other amenities of Schipol ;D ;D

However, he has now arrived safely home and had an extremely pleasant few days in the Netherlands...although he did not realise how cold it could be in January :) :)

(Changing tense)....I would like to put on record my very grateful thanks to my two Dutch friends Christo and Jezetha(the two Johans) for their tremendous kindness in showing my friend and myself around Utrecht and Delft respectively and in extending such warm friendship and hospitality :) It demonstrates how a shared love of music can translate into a bond of humanity and fellowship and how perceptions of the personalities and characters of internet friends can indeed be reflected and confirmed in the reality of a face-to-face meeting :) :)

Photographs to follow ;D

I look forward to meeting Vandermolen(Jeffrey) soon and very much hope that one day soon we may all meet up together :)

Now....BED!! ;D

I'm jealous very happy for you guys!  ;)

Among the most pleasant experiences of my mid-years has been befriending, and meeting like-minded fellows. I make Dundonells' words mine and hope to meet and discuss with a few more of my fellow GMGers. It really IS a special experience. Maybe on my next european visit (2010, crossing my fingers)  :D

Is that the church in Delft?  Looks like an interior whose slide I saw once.

The buildings right here- is this what the housing looks like, generally?
