I've been watching Shetland.  Same author as Vera, but the main characters are very different.

Now are The Valhalla Murders, set in Iceland.

Icelanders say "hi", just like Norwegians.

Iceland produces some of the best Nordic creepfests. A Person I know says Icelanders are "squeegie people", which might mean something.

More travel TV, the first episode of each of the below:

Unfunny and dramatically drab.

High-ish concept crap.

Apple is 0-3.
The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

I have that novel on my Kindle.  Had for years... someday...

Finished Silo season 1.

Enjoyed it for the most part, though I'm getting really, really tired of "mystery box" plotting.  I suppose it's built into the source material.

The Clone Wars
Season 1 & 2 (2008 & 2009)

Just started into Season 2 and it has greatly improved upon the first season already.

Oh yes I hate mystery box writing.  Replace good or at least competent narrative and character arcs with an unsatisfying mystery!  Ug

The worst case I've seen is Wheel of Time.  They're like who is the dragon reborn?  Um, maybe it is the guy on all the book covers.  Oh it is?  What a surprise! /s ::)

Watched the three-part Frontline program America and the Taliban.  Martin Smith does excellent work.  The show includes on-the-ground reporting from early in the war, on-the-ground reporting from after America's withdrawal, and contemporary interviews with both victorious Taliban leaders and failed American leaders, including the disgraced David Petraeus, who some people inexplicably take seriously even now.  The only downside to this Frontline show is the unnecessary foreboding music.  This tale ain't no Hollywood movie.  Probably the funniest part and simultaneously saddest part is that while watching one recognizes that America's leaders haven't learned a thing as they pursue other reckless foreign adventures.

Gilligan's Island (1964-1967)

There has been a marathon on the last few days, and I have caught some episodes in passing.

Pervasive dumb humor between The Skipper and Gilligan, but fun to see Jim Bacchus doing his upper-crust New England accent.

I've finished season 2 of Shetland.  The other seasons feature season length mysteries instead and are not based on the novels.  I'm not sure if I'll continue or not, but for sure I will read the novels that were not adapted.

I've also been enjoying season 4 of Discovery.  They've managed to create an alien race that is potentially even more of a threat than the Borg, and the character arcs and drama is top notch this season.  I can tell though that they knew that this was the end because they keep having characters bow out of the show as it progresses.  Much like season 5 of Babylon 5 (just in that regard, I'm not comparing the seasons).
