One of the great ones, especially the manic finale. Fricsay's DG recording is another outstanding one.

How did you find this cycle?

Herschel: Sonata In D, Op. 4 No. 4
Songs by Henry Harington and Thomas Linley The Elder
Timothy Roberts; Invocation

The Herschel sonata is pleasant, and the songs were surprisingly interesting. They reminded me a bit of Handel.

Varèse: Amériques (Frankfurt Radio Symphony / Alain Altinoglu, conductor, live recording 10 March 2023).

A delight, with spectacular playing from the ensemble.

It is called From a Tale by Karol Homolacs.

Bach

One of the (many) recordings that Gustav Leonhardt made and always puts me in a good mood are the cantatas on this CD
It is all liveliness, though tightly controlled, which strangely enough only heightens the effect. This is a Bach I cannot imagine more beautiful. These are the last cantatas he recorded, but what an elan and inspiration, and at moments beautiful rhythmic accents, culminating in a heavenly dance.

Shhhhh! We've been though this already!

Rounded out my Mozart Quartet listening with the Amadeus Quartet's performance of Quartet No 14, the first of the Haydn Quartets.

Nicely done. The fugal finale (perhaps anticipating the finale of the 41th symphony) was a high point. I won't listen to the early quartets from this set. I like them, but would rather hear them in a more HIP style.

Also, returned to this disc from Angela Hewitt.

I listened to the Hammerklavier Sonata from this disc some time ago (and had a positive reaction). Today, Op 111. I must say that I found the first movement in this recording utterly captivating! The second and final movement was also satisfying, although I always find this movement taxes my attention span.
