Before there was Peter Schickele, before Straight, No Chaser, there was...

Spike Jones and His City Slickers.

Some excerpts and episodes of his T.V. show are on YouTube, along with his appearances in movie comedies.

The "Tchaikovsky Medley" is not quite all Tchaikovsky... ;D

Truly ahead of its time in preparation for the short-attention span viewer!

Warning: They have no shame in using gags from Vaudeville or The Joe Miller Joke Book!

If only l had the means, I'd:

1) Purchase and restore Portmeirion to its mid-1960's appearance.

2) Hire available locals to staff The Village.

3) Offer retired/resigned intelligence officers discounted housing.

4) Want information.  >:D

JAG (1995-2005) - re-watched Season 1 last few days (free on Amazon Prime) - the beautiful Catherine Bell shows up next season - use to have the 10-season box, watched twice, then donated to Goodwill - not sure how far I'll continue but enjoyed seeing again - Dave :)

QuoteJAG (U.S. military acronym for Judge Advocate General) is an American legal drama television series with a U.S. Navy theme, created by Donald P. Bellisario, and produced by Belisarius Productions in association with Paramount Network Television (now CBS Studios). The series originally aired on NBC for one season from September 23, 1995, to May 22, 1996, and then on CBS for an additional nine seasons from January 3, 1997, to April 29, 2005. The first season was co-produced with NBC Productions (now Universal Television) and was originally perceived as a Top Gun meets A Few Good Men hybrid series. (Source)

Right now we are watching:

In the middle of Season 3 right now: not unlike the famous 24 series, things are always going wrong at the worst possible moment.   :o

Unlike 24, "good guys" are usually not around, only bad guys, some less bad than others, some pathetic and somewhat sympathetic.

We have not seen the entire series, so thanks to the local public library, we are interested in seeing if later years stay interesting.

GREAT show! I enjoyed it throughout the entire series.

Hi Dave,
Is that the season with the blonde? I remember them globetrotting a fair bit in that season and it being very un-JAG like.

Love the theme song, though!

Yep - there were 2 blondes in the first season - Tracy Needham below is the main partner but there was another blonde (above Harm in rank) that was wanting to get into bed w/ him - and yes, a lot of sexual innuendos which I like!  ;D    Susan loves that theme also and hums at the start of each episode -  :)  Dave

WandaVision (2021)
Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany

For me, the best part of this short series is the skewering of TV sitcoms from the 1950s-2000s, each episode progressing by decade.

When they add the present-day Marvel stuff, I am less interested.

Even my parents liked that part of the show, and I didn't show them the silly Marvel part at the end.

For me, I've found solace in the cozy mysteries of Father Brown and Poirot.

Silent Witness season 27 on Britbox. So far they have released only the first two episodes.

The four-part Rise And Fall Of Boris Johnson.

The Stockholm Syndrome and lack of self-knowledge displayed by his succession of bits-on-the-side girlfriends was kind of fascinating.

Dominic Cummings is left out of the story until late in the final episode and then handled very selectively, as if the filmmakers are afraid of angering him.

Otherwise perfectly watchable, but few surprises or insights if you know most of the story already.

just watched seasons 3 and 4. Raunchy, silly, and violent. I find it very funny, but ymmv...
It's all good...
