Quote from: AnotherSpin on July 18, 2024, 09:47:29 PMYesterday I made lamb and veg in Dutch owen. My precious Staub is within near reach always.
Staub is a great brand; I have a friend who has one of their Dutch ovens.  I have several Le Creuset pieces that I bought years ago.

I'm still on shift for another 90 minutes or so, but another eggscellent breakfast will be coming my way shortly thereafter.  8)

Made a batch of *four bean salad today.  I like to use garbanzo beans, dark red kidney beans, cut yellow beans and cut green beans.  I also added some thinly sliced sweet onion and green pepper, fresh tarragon, tarragon vinegar, olive oil, a tiny bit of sugar, a bit of fresh lemon juice, and s&p.  As this makes a very large bowl full, I'll pass some along to a friend.

*Took a fairly traditional recipe that I had for three bean salad and put my twist on it.  I find that the salad that one can buy at the deli section of a grocery store is too sweet for my taste, so I try to make my own.

A wedding perhaps?  :)

Looks like yours might have had chicken in it?  Looking online for descriptions of it, it seems also contain a fair amount of dried fruit?  Is that correct?

That looks quite tasty. I hope the event went well, and that everyone is safe.  8)

That's right, dried apricots, raisins, chestnuts. The original recipe uses beef or lamb, but we had pork.

With the exception of too much wine, everything else was quite safe :o

There was also a cake yesterday, made at home by one of the guests.

What a gorgeous cake!  And as far as cakes go, it looks fairly healthful.   :)

Who made the shah pilav?

Just finished a slice of leftover pizza (for lunch) from last night's dinner.

Legend has it, or so I thought, the best fish & chips a toss up between Whitby and Aldeburgh. I have sampled Whitby which for a fish & chips connoisseur is heaven. Aldeburgh, I always get waylaid by crab sandwiches at the Wentworth Hotel and much to my shame not indulged in the famous Aldeburgh fish & chips.

I have not tried curry sauce but do like a "wally" (pickled gherkin).

A pickle on the side (particularly a sour one) sounds like a nice way to help cut through/balance off the fat.  Haven't ever tried curry sauce on fries--er, "chips" before.  Do they make their own at the fish and chips places and you request it on your chips?
