Both are superb!

Faye looks like an hagiography. What does it have to say about her reputation as a prima donna? Or Bette Davis's comment that Dunaway was the most unprofessional person she ever worked with?

Rewatching Louie. It's too bad he--and his show--got cancelled.

Moon Knight (2022)
Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, F. Murray Abraham

The Moon Knight character is a Marvel mix of Venom and Apocalypse, with bits of Brendan Fraser's The Mummy thrown in.

Gets a little trippy in the 2nd half, but Oscar Isaac is always fascinating to watch.

An annotated version of this for foreign audiences would be lovely. I think 20-40% of the jokes go over my head because I'm not British and yet it's still one of my top five favorite comedies.

I finished S2 of Poirot—some good mysteries. Not any of the great ones yet. But S3 opens with the Mysterious Affair at Styles. Suchet remains THE Poirot.

Ms. Marvel (2022)
Iman Vellani

The topic of holding to one's heritage while pursuing what you love isn't new, but effective enough here. The colonial partition of India and Muslim migration to Pakistan underlines this modern-day superhero story.

Peter Capaldi is the only name that rings a bell.

To our British friends here, are there other names/actors whose work I might know?

It was created by Armando Iannucci, who co-created Alan Partridge according to Wikipedia. After The Thick of It HBO talent scouted him to make Veep over here, which was sort of the American version of The Thick of It.

Don't forget about the movie In The LoopVeep is the better Iannucci TV show, simply because there is so much of it, but Malcolm Tucker is one of the greatest TV characters ever to grace the small screen, and then the big screen.

I can't agree. Veep only got good after Iannucci left. He lacked the deep familiarity with American media and government that made The Thick of It so vital. The first episode of Veep had her shitting herself, for fuck's sake. I expected better from the creator of The Thick of It. And his movies were worse. Loop was okay but it was just a rehash of Thick of It. The one about Stalin was terrible; I didn't even finish watching it.

Different strokes.  Veep is fantastic, from the first moment.  I'm rewatching it now for obvious reasons.  The Death of Stalin is absolutely outstanding.

I think the moment I gave up on The Death of Stalin is when one character called another "Madame Suck-Suck". Imagine being a professional comedy writer and thinking that was good enough to go into the script. Imagine Malcolm Tucker calling someone "Madame Suck-Suck".

The movie is about the aftermath of the death of Stalin.  Steve Buscemi play Kruschev.  It's OK.

Nearing the end of the fifth (final) season of The Dick van Dyke Show. Morey Amsterdam had never been Bar-Mitzvahed, and they wrote a show in which the ceremony was the climax, airing 2 March 1966.

The Rings of Power, season 2. First three episodes aired yesterday. I re-watched the first season throughout last week in preparation and re-watched the last episode of season 1 together with the new ones yesterday. Excellent work by all involved and it's very nice to catch minutiae coming from several of Tolkien's writings being referenced throughout the series. Stunning visuals, great acting, excellent music (the introduction sequence alone is the most inspired music I've listened to on TV in a very long time). Looking forward to the rest of the season's episodes with much interest.
