Oh, that recording of Maximilian Steinberg's Symphony No. 3 is unmissable for me and others I'm thinking of! Looking forward to it.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

His recording of music by Giovanni Antonio Terzi was excellent.

Thnx, I will definitely give that a listen!

An all-ladies edition:

A vintage film pic of the artist.  I wonder if the recording is from the time of the photo.  (I didn't bother googing it.)

Now some covers for the self-appointed GMG taste brigade to mull over:

The last one is not in proper focus and has slight motion blur, and it emphasizes contrasting carefully selected colors which were then subjected to split toning.  While it's clearly done purposely, it's no doubt in bad taste.  What say the tastemakers of GMG?

Yes, that caught my eye too! It's about time someone recorded his other symphonies besides Nos. 1, 2, and 4. If it's in the same league as his excellent 2nd Symphony, we're in for a real treat!

We say, hmm, still thinking about Todd's commentary on Andre Previn's hairstyle.

Not sure if this upcoming release has been mentioned:

This is an interesting assortment of works: Dumbarton Oaks, Three Japanese Lyrics, Two Poems of Balmont, Septet, Three Little Songs, Octet, Concertino for Twelve Instruments and Ragtime for Eleven Instruments.

Some other upcoming releases that may or may not have been mentioned yet:

Oh a Faure edition from Erato, nice!

There's a brief discussion of the Fauré box contents in his composer thread:

In time for the holidays.  One would expect such an outfit to keep their headquarters in Highland Park, but no, it's adjacent to Baylor-Meadows.

There's a Chopin University? Or is that just a sort-of-gimmick name?

Plus you can fly there arriving at Chopin Airport.

Lucie Horsch has released a few tracks from that upcoming album. As expected from her previous work, they sound really nice.

She's good at recorderatin'.

Visible forearm tats creep into the classical music world.  Which is worse, that or Jimmy Fallon narrating?  That's easy, it's Jimmy Fallon, who should never have been contracted to do anything, ever, for any label, between now and the end of time.  Alas, this release has Grammy nomination written all over it.

Hmmm.

Oh yeah!

Every once in a while, Naxos cranks out a recording with a big name singer for a passion project.  I'm thinking the angelic Vernonique Gens and her and her fantastic Canteloube recordings.  This DeYoung release may thus be worth a hearing.

Very nice sounding op 108 actually.  Big authoritative gestures -- good pianist!

@Todd The Girl With The Forearm Tattoo seems cool enough. Good for her.

But I would never buy an album featuring Jimmy Fallon's voice. The only thing I have ever liked from him is the Fever Pitch movie. His run on the Tonight Show has soured me on the guy.  :P
