Quote from: Karl Henning on October 11, 2024, 09:12:29 AMYes, indeed! There was also the box of Patrick McGoohan's earlier series, Secret Agent. I don't say I wasn't tempted, but such an extravagant haul would have been too tough a sell to my missus.

It's funny now to think about how much DVD sets were when they first came out. When I bought the Emma Peel collection (17 DVDs, if I remember correctly) about 20 years ago, it was something like $150.

A couple of years ago, I bought the two series of Emma Peel and the Linda Thorson season on amazon streaming for about $30.

Same shop but different day, I snaffled that Avengers box, as well. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I think it may have been $60-ish at Newbury Comics. I could see it pricing at $150 somewhere, though. I found most of the Linda Thorson 2-DVD sets used on Amazon Marketplace at a price point I found reasonable.

Quote from: Todd on October 10, 2024, 04:51:40 AMAfter viewing multiple episodes of Mythical Kitchen, YouTube's super-powerful AI-powered algorithm determined I might like FutureCanoe, who started off as a TikTok star.  He's a good Chinese kid who lives on the Lower East Side, replicates online recipes and cookbook recipes, and delivers it with a cross-borough sensibility as his style reminds the viewer of Adam Friedland quite frequently.  He also addresses age-old questions, like does duck fat make everything better?

I don't believe that I've watched any of his videos before, but will check them out.

And duck fat = gold!  :)

Alias Seasons 2 and 3
The Interpreter

For 15 bucks.

Just finished up Alias. Maybe the best cliffhanger ever - like the ultimate water-cooler moment.

Everything is do high-level: acting, cinematography, costumes, story, etc. I cannot think of a single flaw.

Tons of fun, as well. :)

The Loudest Voice. A thought-provoking show exploring the decline of journalism and the replacement of "news" with "newsworthy" content.

I'm continuing to rewatch old favorites from the '70s. Last night it was Fall Of Eagles about the great empires of Europe and their eventual destruction. The series is from 1974. It's a continuous talkfest by actors in fine costumes and extravagant whiskers and I love it. The cast is fantastic. Michael Aldridge plays Rasputin and Patrick Stewart is Lenin. Barry Foster plays Barry Foster playing Kaiser Willy! That's beyond even anything!!
