I think my setup would infuriate most on this forum, lol.

I doubt it gets more basic than mine:

A CD player/alarm clock
A portable DVD player
My cell phone (for Youtube)

I don't stream or do downloads.

I have remarked a few times before that having cheap equipment is a great way to avoid being bothered by bad sonics: it might be bad but you don't hear the flaws unless they're really obvious.

10 years ago, my local library (and their branch locations) had an unbelievable selection of DVDs - especially Criterion Collection.

Over time as the discs wore out, got lost/stolen, etc, they never bothered to replace them. So now, they have very little compared to before.

But that's okay. I don't have a DVD/BR player anyway!  :D

I finished Slow Horses S1. It was great! I will immediately jump into S2.

Am rewatching Lost.

I have been watching Yellowstone. I think the series is good in that it depicts humans as most are... selfish, narcissistic, brutal and callous.

I bought seasons 1-4 on amazon prime video at some point when they had a great sale. I like Costner. But I just have not gotten around to checking it out yet. LOL

"Rover" is one of the worst characters in the series. Here I call him the pit bull. Imagine being a bullies bully.
I'm not a Costner fan, but I may have seen him in only one or two films. Dutton is a despicable character but if only he'd stop doing that thing with his mouth I may dislike him a little less. By "thing with his mouth" I'm mean the twitch, not talking... although if he could stop that too there would be 75% less crap spoken in the series :)

Is there a Rover in Yellowstone?  If so, I was referring to the "creature" in the old t.v. show "The Prisoner".

Glued to Sambre-Anatomy of a Crime. One of those you don't want to end! A French series with English subtitles. Unlike some, subtitles do not bother us and much prefer to dubbed or an English speaking version. Highly recommended.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Sounds interesting.  I looked to see who all was in it and a name rang a bell:  Clémence Poésy.  Found out that she was in The Tunnel and also had been in Harry Potter!

How interesting. She has an aura that draws you in. Each episode features a female, Poésy, fourth I think. She plays a profiler using algorithms to track a serial rapist. Some outstanding performances, I was particularly impressed by the episode featuring Noémie Lvovsky who plays the Mayoress of Sambre. Based on actual events, men especially French police, are shown in a very poor light.

I watched the first episode a couple of days ago and indeed it was a good start. Coincidentally I was cycling along the Sambre river last weekend.

Revisiting the 70's Nero Wolfe show. Even though I enjoy it, I cannot suppress my feeling that I prefer the later Maury Chaykin/Timothy Hutton series.

I have been revisiting some of the 1999 Dilbert cartoon on youtube.

Scott Adams may be less-than-delightful these days, but this cartoon still holds up for me. A lot of it has to do with the strong voice acting.

Series 3

Just finished this constantly gripping drama (in what appears to be its final series) about the cauldron of unrelenting adrenaline, ruthlessness and insanity, fuelled by insatiable greed and vast rivers of cash, that is life on the sales floor of a city bank. Full of jaw-dropping moments and an unwaveringly high level of excellence in all the constituent parts that make up a drama (writing, acting, directing, music etc), it emerges from the screen in the dramatic equivalent of a highly effective series of Mike Tyson jabs. In amongst all the mayhem it manages to burrow deep down into the characters, and witnessing them being tossed around on the currents of such a merciless sea is all the more shocking for it.

A really eye-opening picture for me too (assuming it's a more or less realistic one) of what an out of control beast underpins such large swathes of our economies. The next time there's a market crash I'll have a somewhat more vivid understanding of the pulleys and cogs spinning beneath the surface I guess. And how people survive lives of such constant and pitiless pressure, the half of them that don't seem like suited psychopaths that is, I really don't know.

Watched two episodes so far of a series on PBS called The First Lady.  The first two episodes I came in part way.  I've enjoyed it quite a bit.  I don't know whether or not this will change, but so far anyway, it's been focusing on three of the First Ladies (US):  Eleanor Franklin, Betty Ford, and Michelle Obama.  It starts with (roughly) just before when their husbands become the President Elect, what it's like to step into that role...and trying to create/find a significant role, the relationships between the husbands and wives, etc.  Each episode has been jumping between the three couples.  Has anyone else here been watching it?
