What TV series are you currently watching?

Been watching some Law & Order - it has such an addicting formula, but it is such a bad show - in pretty much every facet, and you think after this long they'd be able to write a black character, but nope - in fact, the newer seasons are somehow worse than the older ones when it comes to dealing with issues of race (which sounds ass-backwards to me when I say that out loud).

It is my ultimate guilty pleasure because I just can't help myself, lol.

I'm addicted to it! It's fabulous.  I think it's based on a novel, which could well be worth tracking down.

Have seen Shogun and would like to go back to it. But there are 43 episodes of The Water Margin to see first.

It was filmed after the novel which is one of the major works of Chinese classical literature. This novel tells the life of a group of brigands who rebel against corruption and injustice in society. It is known that Chairman Mao highly appreciated this novel and often mentioned the actions of its characters as examples of courage and revolutionary spirit. The book was translated to Russian and published in the USSR under rhe title "Bays of the river" (Речные заводи). I also saw translation to Ukrainian.

It's interesting that the film masterpiece was made in Japan. There is a Chinese film of it, and it's fun -- but doesn't bear comparison with the Japanese series.

Is anyone here watching Miss Scarlet and the Duke?  I recently started watching it.  Victorian period piece about a woman who (I believe) inherits her father's detective business.  And upon googling it further, well never mind...I think that I will still enjoy watching it...no comments/spoilers...and don't google!

All of these could easily make a first class series on Netflix or Amazon.

Shout! Studios has been streaming The Prisoner on youtube. I happened to turn it on this morning just as it was starting at "Arrival", and I watched a few episodes. 

Looks like it's currently on ep 15, so it's not far off from starting back over at the beginning (after ep 17).

In the USSR, both full and abridged versions of Journey to the West were published. Dream of the Red Chamber and The Plum in the Golden Vase were released as two-volume editions. Dream of the Red Chamber was published only once and was extremely rare. However, in the USSR, most interesting books were printed in very limited editions. For example, the first and only edition of Zhuangzi had a print run of 1,500 copies and was never reprinted. I hunted for the book for some years.

When you get to the last episode of that, see if you can work out what the executioner says just before he cuts off her head. Mark Rylance really is an exceptional actor.

    I'll be watching the final 2 episodes of Wolf Hall II: The Revenge soon. I don't really want the story to end. Episode 4 really got to me because Cromwell is dangerously indiscreet with Wriothesley, the last person in the solar system to share dangerous thoughts with.
