Thanks K - my daughter was asking me for my mother's full name so, who knows?
Thanks for the nice thought.

Nice choice  :)

I like Hannah but my daughter will not go for a name suggested by her dad!

Suggest that she could spell it backwards, then, to spite you....

In my family it was a requirement that we have names that weren't in the family. My father was unhappy with the names he got saddled with on the basis of being named after relatives, and so decided my sister and I would be originals.

I once knew a couple who had been school teachers, and expended a good deal of effort in ensuring the names they picked would not remind them of any problematic students they had taught. They eventually settled on Miles and Owen.

Since your mother was Dutch, prepare for a maiden name of her generation like: Annegina Petronella Hendrikje, 'Anneke' for short. Or Grietje Magdalena Willempje, 'Grietje' for short.  :D

Yes, this is definitely something I've heard from teacher friends!

Then tell your daughter: "Don't you ever dare to name her Hannah!" and just wait.  ;D

IIRC, he moved to New York City to study (I think he's going to be a dentist or something). I suppose the hustle and bustle of city life has kept him from coming around. I'm willing to bet he doesn't even have much time for music.

I remember he was, by his own account, living a nomadic life in Europe, travelling light (he'd got rid of all physical CDs) and was, I believe, undergoing treatment for cancer.  Hope it means he's just too busy to post.

That was also my understanding, based on the posts he made here before his departure, and perhaps in a few emails we exchanged. I also did a cursory search for his real name on the internet and didn't find any activity (he deleted his Facebook page as well).

There's an old joke as to why so many teachers don't have kids: they can't think of a name that won't cause nightmares!

I wonder where @Symphonic Addict is? It's not like him to be absent from the forum for too long. Hope he's okay.

I actually think one of the ones earlier this year was shorter. Though I'm not keeping careful records.

He's another one of these people who would be much better off just not posting for a bit, rather than the whole account deletion thing. Much lower administrative overheads.

Edit: Actually, he might be THE person who would be much better off. And he behaves in a quite similar way with music purchases. Ordered! Cancelled! Ordered! It's all very impulsive.

Ganondorf

Actually, I think one other occasion may have been shorter where he technically never left at all but he announced that he was leaving and after response from community immediately decided not to leave at all. I think he may have even said in his announcement that it is useless to talk him out of it.  ::)
