Anton Bruckner Symphony No. 4 in E Flat Major, 1880 (aka 1878/80) - Ed. Robert Haas, NDR Sinfonieorchester, Günter Wand

I still dislike the Lalo cello concerto, and mildly dislike the symphony, but maaan we need a good new complete Namouna recording because this suite of excerpts, played to the hilt by the present orchestra and conductor, is absolute fire.

What a treat to find this on Spotify. Fabienne Jacquinot is one of my favourite pianists, I was actually looking for her Schumann, but noticed these Ukrainien songs first, and thought why not. Ouliana Tchaïkowski has a gorgeous rich warm voice. And the music is delightful - sweet songs, some traditional, some attributed to composers.

Nice. Was thinking of poking Glazunov soon. Good prompt 👍

Pickard has stature, I think. I rarely listen to his work without benefit.
