Clips from Presto's homepage reveal very slow tempi for almost all the chorals, some of them grotesquely slow - listen e.g. to Jesus Christus unser Heiland pedaliter BWV 688 or Dies sind die heilgen zehn Gebot pedaliter BWV 678.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Yes, I noticed that. I'll give it a chance on Spotify and report back. I can see he's recorded the Goldbergs -- slowly.

Me either - already bought the complete sets, so no need to replace? If packaged in a much smaller space would consider if the price was right?  Dave

The five books were already in a slim packaging. The entire thing will probably be cheaper now, though I tried to pick each book at a discount, but I'm good.  :)

All the famous stuff: Iberia, Alborada, Escales, Rapsodie Espagnole, totaling 57 minutes. No Massenet Le Cid or Chabrier Espana. For that matter, only one-third of Escales is in Spain...maybe Ibert's Chevalier Errant or Serenade pour Dulcinee should have been used instead... why didn't they put me in charge?  ;D

OK so here would be my program:

Chabrier Espana and Habanera 10'
Ibert Serenade 4'
Massenet Le Cid 20'
Debussy Iberia 19'
Ravel Alborada + Rapsodie 23'
= 76'

two more upcoming Warner reissue boxes

Brian

I think JPC releases are frequently delayed on their way from Europe to the USA.

Intriguing.. Couldn't find any further information.
But frankly no important Alessandro Scarlatti recordings on Erato spring to mind... Is this another reissue of outdated (pre-HIP) stuff?

Hans Holbein

Erato absorbed the Virgin Veritas catalogue, so it's likely that the box contains recordings from that label with Fabio Biondi among others.

Ah, yes! And the Virgin recordings by Gérard Lesne and Il Seminario Musicale.

JBS

Seen on Presto.
The 1681 Sonatas are getting popular.

 Penceler organ, Leuven

I like to hear the Biber with organ - I wish she had recorded more of them.

The two have recorded the Bach violin sonatas - it sounds most unusual!

Dragosits' Froberger CD for Divox and her CD for Fra Bernardo called "Italia" are very fine, but the late French Baroque music programming of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" is too late to me.

How about some Chambonnières instead? Looks like this will arrive in August:
