Quite a remarkable series, really. Murderbot's journey isn't so different from the old search for freedom: breaking out of its programming, questioning who or what it is, managing to function in the world without being swallowed by it, and eventually finding a bit of peace and clarity.

In the end, the AI seemed far more natural than the humans, who were less genuinely human and more disturbingly "normal" in their own peculiar way.

Alexander Skarsgård was excellent in his role.

I've been meaning to see that. I'll try to get around to it this week!

I'm watching Sense 8 on Netflix.ca.  I'm into the 2nd of two seasons.

This is a better than average sci-fi, (I suppose that's the genre).  It's about eight people, all born the same day and time, who share a psychic link though they live separate cities around the world.  They are threatened by various malefactors and help each other remotely in real time.

If you're offended by "woke" you might not enjoy the series;  it features people of different races, gender affiliations, and walks of life. It all works for me however.  (The notion of a trans women lesbian is a bit weird to me but hey.)

I've recently finished watching all of Bones:

As a police procedural, it is one of the better ones, but most police procedurals (like Law & Order) are trash. This one struggles, for me, because of the weakness of the two leads: Bones and Booth (yes, he is related, in universe, to the assassinator of Lincoln, and it is even plays a key role in at least one episode). It is clear, from the get, that they were going to get together, and it took basically 10 seasons for that to actually happen, and it took that long because the entire premise of the show is that the world is conspiring against them (it is easily one of the most narcissistic shows I've ever come across - it unironically reminded me of some of the past posters on GMG, lol).

Out of the main cast of characters - not a single likeable person - they were all irritating, but, and this is a positive, they had some of the best character actors and actresses I've ever seen making sure the show didn't fall through the floor. Example: For a 3-episode arc, they had Diedrich Bader (who I know best from The Drew Carey Show and Office Space - a comedian) play Booth's boss and Bones's love interest, and he was so charming (I was sad when he left, but he probably made the show too good and that worried the producers of this soap opera slop).

All in all, Bones was fun enough, and I will return to some episodes for rewatch - all in all I'd give the show a solid C (75/100).

I think I've watched it twice over the years. Beatrix Lehmann was great in this as she was in Love for Lydia

Finished King of Queen:

This show did not age well if you are not in its demographics, and I am most assuredly not in its demographic (it suffers, I think, from the same thing a show like Everyone Loves Raymond suffers from) - there's not really a single likeable character on it.

Yes, both shows did have some moments, and the King of Queens had more than not, which kept me going, although, by Season 7 I started skipping small portions of episodes.

The show also ended incredibly silly, and kind of racist, but the absolutely worse part of the show, with only a handful of good moments in the entire series - was Jerry Stiller as Carrie's dad. He was horrendously bad (reminded me of Raymond's mother).

I will admit that part of the reasons I don't get the show might be partially based on race, as culturally I don't understand where they are coming from, and so there might be things I'm missing because of that (sort of what I hear that white people don't find House of Payne funny, which is a show that is hilarious to me because I get the culture of it).

Hmm. The very little I saw of King of Queens didn't much amuse me, and I would be part of the supposed demographic it appeals to. So perhaps being a popular comedy just does not guarantee it's actually a good comedy?

Jerry Stiller in essence always played the same character. His awfulness was intentional.

I lost patience with Everyone Loves Raymond about as soon as expected.

Lol, okay perhaps I didn't miss anything at all.

See, I didn't mind Stiller on Seinfeld, but that show, in my opinion, had one of the greatest collection of writers ever, so I suspect that is why his character worked there and not on a show like King of Queens.

I'm on the third season of The Gilded Age. Bill Camp plays J.P. Morgan, so all's right with the world.
