Well, and to be sure, his last several posts included such classic Cuddles-isms as:

Those Cuddles-isms are 'sublime'.  0:)

Absolutely, and most of the time he makes me laugh uncontrollably! ;D ;D ;D

That is perhaps the nub of his silence; as I feel he was not trying to make you laugh, rather shiver with fear....some chance.

And stay off my lawn!

Now, I don't think that is actually him; apart from certain obvious features, I always imagine, that Iago is a thin man. But no matter. There are those on the board who have met him.

And obviously survived the encounter that was very close..... ;D

This is what I imagined Cuddles looked like?

He has that curmudgeon thing down, don't he?  ;D

Do one thing, do it well.

Although I don't like to disagree, also the guy is not making an appearance to defend himself, (or attack anyone), but I never really fell for his schtick. It was pure amateur pantomime night when he got going. For any favours! We have some professional nasty people here...at least I am assuming someone is paying them, else why bother? By comparison Cuddles was thickly sliced and well past its sell-by-date ham.

Surely they're not that good at it!

Disclaimer: I'm married to a humanities professor, and through her have met some really nasty, mean-spirited, small-minded people who'd make anyone who's ever posted here look like an amateur. ;)

Maybe he's testing us...which presents a dilemma. If we notice he's gone, he'll stay gone. If we pretend we haven't noticed (we'll have to delete our posts, Brian) he'll come back. Oh, what to do, what to do...

Well, clearly head-case thought someone would miss him, and he was right. Or rather wrong: I just saw a "guest" had posted in the thread whilst scrolling down.  ;D

Actually, he was Minnesota Dave long before we ever heard of dtwilbanks. Dave is one of the constants in the world. He just came back as dt that one time to throw off the dogs... :D

Ah, but in those days I was not a member of the forum - I was still an idle 13-year-old who thought the 1812 Overture was the pinnacle of Tchaikovsky's career...

Reminds me of the old joke about why academic politics are so vicious:  Because the stakes are so small.

Hey!  :D
No, seriously, dude...how would you describe yourself in a similar one-liner today?  Might be as interesting to look back on a few years from now as the line about your 13 year-old Tchaikovsky-lovin' self is today.

Bogey may simply be busy with real life;  I had a PM from him recently.
