Success!

And now . . . I won't buy any new music (even for Paul) before six o'clock . . . .

You have inspired me, Karl; but I will put a more ambitious goal: I won't buy any CD until January 12th. Yes, sir, I can do it!  :D

Not eating before the feast, eh? ;)

:D

Posting this before Der Henning is like waving a red flag in front of a Bull.

But, since we seem to be hell bent on ruining his resolve:
(And I honestly can't say which of the following is the most disturbing...)

"If it sounds good, it is good."
Duke Ellington

You guys are making this easy!

Another day, and holding strong.

The new erato

I've caved in. Look in the purchases thread. Still, it was almost two weeks since the last purchase.

karlhenning

Well, that was something! No doubt the pressure is higher in the Norwegian winter : )

There's a non-music item which is newly available, probably now.  But I'll wait.

There's a non-music item...

Ever since my mother-in-law said "and you call that music?", my music collection has shrunk by 45% or so. Thousands of CDs are now considered "non-music items".
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I love it! : )

But this is the Firesign Theatre.  Back in the day, they had a double-LP consisting mostly of bits of their radio shows, Dear Friends.  I've been waiting for that to be available on CD, and now they have this massive CD-ROM plus book reissue of their entire radio transcripts which, actually, is exactly my sort of thing.

But I'll wait a bit.

And I thought we were ALL bozos on this bus.

You know what I am yearning for, 9 years after I came back to China? Vin Scully calling baseball games, on CD-ROM. That would be terrific (and certainly NOT count as musical purchases!)

oh, you were setting yourself up the whole time, haha!

snyprrr

ok, one of the cds I've been 'tracking', one of those that are available for $40-80,... well, a $12 copy,.... and I must say this, from a vendor I'm not too confident about,... a $12 copy showed up, and, of course, I was bound by duty to 'retrieve' this 'lost friend' from the ether. I will be quite pleased if the actual right item appears, but like I said, "zoverstock" seem to be kinda shady. (I know I shouldn't have mentioned the name, but...)

Somehow, I have confidence though.

Still, I count this as 'old business', so, technically, I HAVEN'T bought anything yet.

btw- I'm not trying to discouraged Karl. Spend this time writing a piece for four trombones?

Variations and Fugue on "CDCDCD"!

(Okay, it's not the most memorable subject -- therein lies the challenge.)

karlhenning

Well, one number for two trombones I wrote years ago does have C D C D in the upper voice . . . .

Generally I do not post my aqusitions in the purchase thread :-X.
If I did so Karl would consider me mad :o.

(Please don´t tell him) ;D
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

karlhenning

I don't know . . . such behavior would likely strike me as perfectly sensible ; )

Actually, I like it. It has a taffy pulling sound, no? Stretch it out a bit!

I was close to caving in this morning. I hadn't started the day with the thought I will not make any purchase before noon.

I caught myself, though. Holding fast.

Your CDCDCD is out in the parking lot doing pushups! Good for you to catch yourself. One must nip these things early in the day,... as Paul said, I die daily!!!

Still, I fear a relapse is in your future Karl. All this constipative backup is probably going to cause diarrihea in your wallet in Feb. Take some financial metamucil now!!!!
