The Debt, I really liked it. :)  I was also surprised that Sam Worthington managed to do a decent job acting with you know emotions. ;D

Pretty darned good.  CGI has certainly come a long way.  The big battle sequence is a bit silly - I missed the part where chimps studied combat tactics - but it was well done.  John Lithgow stands out for doing some actual acting in the thing, too.

Yeah that was my favorite movie of the summer.  It's not without it's moments of sheer stupidity plot holes but it more than makes up for them with a compelling story and characters. :)

P.S. - just finished the Carell film and must say that my rating will go up to 4* - quite enjoyable for me!

Did you stream that from amazon or vudu?  I was all excited to think it was on netflix watch instantly... but it's not.

David - yes, I checked my Netflix account and not a 'free' offer - have a new Sony Blu-ray player w/ built-in Wi-Fi so just for fun, I streamed the Amazon SD version ($4) - worked fine (even w/ my older router, i.e. 802.11 b/g) - Dave :)

I was watching Kitchen Nightmares (a Gordon Ramsey thingymajig) and noticed something. The network had rated it 14+ for strong language, but it's all beeped out. Are actual swearwords 18+ on TV? In cinema it seems that the 15 rating lets you say whatever you want in moderation.

Last night, The Man Who Knew Too Much with Jas Stewart and Doris Day, who acts far better than you might expect.

Already had that one in my hat Karl....spot on.
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

LUIS BUÑUEL:            Susana     (1951)

To me this is one of the weakest movies of Buñuel. A very conventional melodrama, very far from the Los Olvidados made one year before. It seems it was a great commercial success. Perhaps Buñuel needed the money and the trust of the producers to be able to make more personal projects.

Last night: "Mute" from season 4 of The Twilight Zone (another appearance by Oscar Beregi, though quite a small role for him)

I've been watching that show regularly too but I'm on season 1.  Was skipping around before.

Anyway Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol lots of fun, much better than the others.  Finally an MI movie that captures the essence: crazy gadgets, adventure, secret spy stuff.  That's all you need.  You don't need helicopter chases in tunnels, or all these stupid masks, and recycling the boss is the traitor/double agent bs.  Finally a movie that gets it!

Fast Five is better than the others, heck maybe even the original, but it's still only good.  It lags, it's too long for such a by the #s heist movie (yeah despite the way they did it you'll predict everything that happens trust me), and why is the Rock lathered in oil and also sweating like he just finished a marathon all the time? :D

Brutal lessons are learned.
Norton was uncompromisng and compelling.
There is no Hollywood bullshit about it - direction and cinematography are second to NONE.  Great movie, recommended, but not for the faint of heart...

I've kept to a chronological survey with the Zone, only I've not kept steady with it (big gap between finishing season 3 and starting season 4, e.g.)

Did watch "Death Ship" last night, another Richard Matheson script, with Jack Klugman (not my favorite Klugman turn in The Tw. Z., though)

Is that the one where the people in the spaceship crash on the planet?

They land normally, but they find an earth ship which has crashed, yes.
