I find Serebrier a wonderful Glazunov conductor.  Unfortunately, I already have four of the discs.  Regardless, it's great that the box has been unleashed.

I just bought all of the individual recordings for a great price. As a collector, I can the value of owning the individual recordings more plus you'll get all the original liner notes/artwork.

It's about time! I'll buy this for my Dad. He loves Glazunov.

Can you buy it for me too?!  :P

I'd love this set. When I will finally be able to purchase it though, I am not sure...

I already bought all the individual recordings from it for great prices, Daniel. I bought it for my Dad though. He loves Glazunov's music. I need to acquint myself more with Glazunov as well and give him a fair shake. I remember liking some of the music I heard very much like From the Middle Ages from a Jarvi recording my Dad owns.

To commemorate the passing of Gustav Leonhardt, I'm thinking of one or both of these sets.  Any comments on their musical merits?

Both are wonderful, so I think you should get both, because there are few duplications. The Teldec box is focus on clavecin and violin, and Sony box is focus on organ.
If you interest, I can recommend two more cheap box

I have both sets and they complement each other very well ...

Well, it looks like I may need to expand my Leonhardt collection at some point in the near future.

There are no duplications, only different recordings of the same works.

If someone doesn't stop me, I'll be buying it this evening! ;)

Is this the set I should buy by the way? Or this one?

The second one includes a few live performances as a bonus, but I don't know if they're otherwise the same.
EDIT: Click the second set's Amazon link and read the first review, it explains the provenance of the set.

You should get the 2nd set. Symphonies 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9 have been remastered, and added are live performances of 5, 6 and 7, plus a valuable recording of DLvdE.

The 2nd set has all of the 1st, plus the live performances - I've got the live 5th in EMI's Mahler anniversary box, and you don't want to miss it - and it's cheaper, too, at least on Amazon UK.

With Tennstedt, always get the LIVE if you have a chance. He is ten times better LIVE than in the studio. And if you can find the Mahler 3,4,5,6,7 All Live recordings in a MEMORIES box, get it.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Ahh, but I'm always looking for that next performance that will make me go 'wow!', that next transcendent experience.  So I fully embrace CDCDCD, and its cousin, CDDLCD :)

Case in point - I've been keeping an eye on this one... I don't have a lot of Ciccolini:

What better way to sample his work than a 56-disc box? ;D
