Just to keep the boys happy, I listened to Symphony 7 off this set, too.

Symphony No.5
Takes a while to get going, but then it blazes like the dickens!

Although I must say that on cursory listening, at least, I found the 5th more impressive.

Now I'm doing a bit of Raff-comparing, listening to Symphony No.2 off this set:

J.J. Raff
Symphonies & Orchestral Works
Bamberg Symphony / H.Stadlmair
Tudor

Neeme Jaervi's recording of Symphony No.2 (I have no conclusions yet, except that it is in better sound) very conveniently includes the very Preludes that are not part of the terrific Bamberger set.

Jimmy and Bobby are in Fifth grade now. Jimmy excels in Math but has a little trouble concentrating in English. Bobby has made the Touch-Football team for the third time straight, has picked up the clarinet, and continues to be very creative...

Ah, how I hate annual newsletters, when they're sort of like that.  ;D Incidentally, for those not versed in the art of newsletter-speak, the above translated is roughly: We're giving Jimmy Riddalin and think he might have Aspergers. Bobby is clearly gay, can't focus on one instrument, and gets bad grades.

Mine is nothing like that. I will send you a copy or simply give you the link where you can find it on my blog.

BTW, here is last year's newsletter. It is in English and Chinese:

??? Good grief, I wasn't suggesting it was! I was just reminded by your mention of my abiding hatred for the standard American type that came to mind... and I had to get it out. Equally, I neither endorse cheap stereotypes of what is or isn't behavior linked to homosexuality, nor do I wish to belittle Asperger Syndrom sufferers. I invoke the "Some of my best friends are..." defense. Although, one such friend, likes to cite in defense of his stereotype-defying manliness his youthful exploits in sports. That sport happens to be League Roller Skating. (!)
