There hath no fury like that of a scorned woman - but she'll serve poisoned mushrooms only if she's been browbeaten.

For the other occasions, Desperate Housewives will serve as a useful compendium of appropriate retortion measures. As they say, Revenge is a dish best served cold... 8)

"LAST KING OF SCOTLAND".

I admire Forest Whitaker, but here, somehow, I was disappointed. Can't figure exactly why.

Isn't she a bit skinny Harry?I thought you liked a girl that could cook?

Yes Muriel, you are right, I absolutely adore a woman that can cook.
Skinny she is, but I was referring to her fine face rather than the rest of her body.
I am so glad you are back on GMG to grace our surroundings.
Please try to stay a little longer. :)

I doesn't mean she can't cook. Only that she never tastes he own cookery  :D

Good observation that! :)

I didn't like that one much; didn't feel any chemistry between Crystal and Ryan.

Watched this recently and really loved it: Rocky Balboa.

No, no, sorry but that sort of films will never do for me. ;D ;D
The humor between Crystal and Ryan is there, but it is not that obvious Andy.
Took me a while to get it, but its there alright! :)

That's not good Poju?

Of course it's not good. When a person stops communicating you start to think he/she is not alive anymore.  :'(
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I did feel the humor between them. What I didn't feel was any sort of convincing romantic electricity....none. That's just me.

Exactly! Is there a possible way to find out Poju?

Not the one in the picture though, but shorter 135 minutes version.

How long is the one in the picture? I wish I owned a copy - I've only seen it once, I think, but I loved the film so much! :o (But then I'm generally a sucker for silent movies... ::))

How did you like it?

SonicMan46

Johnny Belinda (1948) w/ Jane Wyman & Lew Ayres - and in honor of Jane Wyman who just died in her 90s!  She won an Oscar for this role - excellent actress w/ many talents - also love her '50s movies directed by Sirk (let's forget about her Ronald Reagan relationship, please -  ;)) -  ;D

Dave,
Loved her in Here Comes the Groom (1951) with Bing Crosby.
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Bill - yes, I have that one 'burned' to DVD; another range of her acting abilities - and she could sing, too!  :D

Before hitting the bed (too late for me - have a clinical day in ultrasound in the AM), I decided to watch another Jane Wyman flick - Here Comes the Groom would have been a great choice (esp. love Alexis Smith in that film), but decided to watch Pollyanna (1960) - amazing how many good actors Disney was able to obtain for this film, including Wyman & Hayley Mills; reason - I've always had a 'sweet spot' in my heart for Hayley (we were born in the same year), so could certainly relate to her in those 'teenage' films - I found her just adorable in those days (and still do in my later years!) -  ;D

Nice scenery, as the title would suggest. Apart from that nothing much, except the pianist going crazy in the last movement of the Emperor Concerto  $:)

The version in the picture is TCM VHS anniversary edition running 240 minutes which is afaik the longest currently available. Full uncut version would be over 8 hours.

I don't have a copy nor I think there is a DVD readily available.

This was my second viewing (both times on TV) and loved it even more than first time around. Wonderful film, even in this most reduced cut.
