Hi Que - thanks for the link (be about $70 + S/H - don't know if my Amazon Prime would apply there?) - Dave :)

Never heard of Lukas Foss other than him being part of a good documentary on Glenn Gould (NYTimes review: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/05/movies/05gould.html

Curiosity got the better of me when I found a bunch of dirt-cheap Doremi discs - and this sounds pretty good, musically as well as soundwise (but the two piano quartets are from 1965 - the flute quartet from 1950 might be worse, will soon know).

Lawes, William (1602-1645) Royall Consort Suites, V. 1/2 w/ Monica Huggett & the Greate Consort - I have a lot of music by this then quite popular and short-lived English composer.  Lawes was a royal composer employed by Charles I, and he fought on the Royalist side in the English Civil War - he was killed in battle in 1645; Charles lost his head in 1649.

Maybe you would like to try Jordi Savall too, I recorded some fine discs too, by the same composer.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;

Ohh, good piece. The second movement "Kyrie" is the famous one. It was used in "2001: A Space Odyssey". And Spongebob.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Harry - own a LOT of Jordi Savall but not in Lawes works - however, I do have another set of the Royall Consorts w/ their Purcell Quartet - now listening, and I must say that I prefer the performances to those w/ Huggett and colleagues - the playing is a little more lively and theorboes w/ North & O'Dette are much more apparent and upfront to my ears; and coming up next, yet more w/ the London Baroque!  Dave :)
