A.  Fill the 5-gallon jug.
B.  From the water in the 5-gallon jug, fill the 3-gallon jug;  2 gallons remains in the 5-gallon jug.
C.  Empty the 3-gallon jug.
D.  Pour the 2 gallons back into the 3-gallon jug;  mark the level.
E.  Pour two gallons, twice, from the 3-gallon jug into the 5-gallon jug.

E. Fill the 5-gallon jug.
F. Fill up the 3-gallon jug (already hilding 2 gallons) from the 5-gallon jug and 4 gallons would be left in the 5-gallon jug

Thanks;  I was sure I was missing something, and in fact I was failing to visualize what the actors were breathlessly (befitting the scene) explaining.

I should have been no use in that scene  8)

Last night, again: Die Hard With a Vengeance

A.  Fill the 5-gallon jug.
B.  From the water in the 5-gallon jug, fill the 3-gallon jug;  2 gallons remains in the 5-gallon jug.
C.  Empty the 3-gallon jug.

Is that right?

That's too much to think about. When's the next explosion in the movie?  >:D

Including the seven-minute cartoon Lava, one of the best movies of the year, and maybe of the decade:

Amazing that the movie somewhat subtly tells the parents in the audience that wanting or demanding constant happiness for one's child is simply wrong, that sadness and other negative emotions are legitimate and necessary and must not be avoided.

When cartoons are the best films Hollywood is producing, you know that in one sense things are not going too well for the regular movies!

Completely agree, Cato. I saw this with my wife and 6 year old son, we all loved it, even if in different ways. I moved from Texas to NJ when I was 11 or 12, right during middle school. It was tough for both me and my brother, so there was that element of being taken out of a comfort zone and into unfamiliar territory, similar to what is explored in the film.
I applaud Pixar for making a film that caters to both young and old. I know many animated films receive that type of praise, but Inside Out is unique. Adults just don't enjoy this film, they understand it, they sympathize with the characters, because many of us have been through it. I think this film is destined to become a classic.
Also, how great was Bing Bong? "Take her to the Moon."  :'(

You must mean human, and not humane. Doing nothing while that sort of atrocities are committed is monstrous, certainly not humane.
As to your last sentence, it would lead to a strange situation where the resistance to a Nazi regime will be less significant than that to e.g. a social democrat one.

I can admit that I would have not had the courage to resist, had I lived under Hitler's regime. I wouldn't have been proud of it, but at least I admit it. If that really makes me as bad or worse in your eyes than those who actually committed those crimes, well, that can't be helped. Personally, I think actually  committing genocide and not being bold enough to do something about it in fear of death cannot even be compared to each other. The former is one of the greatest atrocities one can imagine, the latter is merely... weak.

It's been years since I've seen this Die Hard film, I think I remember not trying to figure the water then also.

Terminator: Genisys.  I went in with low expectations.  I was not disappointed.  At least it's better than Terminator Salvation.

Wow, Dave. I had no clue this show has 10 seasons, that's an impressive run.

Contemplating getting HBO Now on my Apple tv for a month to binge Game of Thrones. Anyone want to encourage or dissuade me?

Hi Greg - yep, the 10th season of Bones ended in June of this year - I was able to watch the first 8 seasons (which I did twice) w/ our Netflix subscription - bought seasons 9 & 10 w/ Amazon streaming - not getting stale at all - I guess good writing and the characters just seem to work well together; and looks like there will be a season 11?

Concerning Game of Thrones, I've purchased the first 4 seasons from Amazon (and plan to obtain season 5) - I've been enjoying but need to start over, an interweaving fantasy story w/ many characters - a lot of sex & violence (if you're into that - YEH!  ;)) - AND, I must say that one of my favorite characters is Peter Dinklage, the little man - he is just great in his princely role - try season 1 and you may just get 'hooked'?  Dave :)

I recall having watched an episode or two of Bones but I was offput by the main character and the tone of the series.

Well, I'm a retired physician and took anthropology as an undergrad and have been reading books on the topic for decades, so really love the main theme of the series, i.e. about a forensic anthropologist - Emily Deschanel who plays the 'Bones' character (Temperance Brennan) is a beautiful woman and her personality, especially in the earlier seasons is meant to be exactly why you likely were 'put off' - takes watching a number of episodes, if not several seasons, to fully appreciate her role - but hey this is like loving some composers and not others - just a matter of personal opinion.  Dave :)

Millions of the latter is what made the former possible, though, and not much better than just following orders that lead to a genocide.

A question much debated chez B. Is she good looking?

XB-70 Valkyrie

Finally got around to watching Trainspotting on Netflix. I see very few movies--probably half dozen a year (too many other competing interests). I thought it was great, and cannot remember any other movie that so quickly transitions from the hilarious to the disgusting to the depressing and sad.

Ewan McGregor really acted his ass off in that movie, and deserves a lot of credit. Based on his performance in the Star Bores prequals (which my wife dragged me to see), I thought he was just another crappy, overrated pretty-boy Hollywood actor. Realistically, however, the scripts of those movies were so bad you can't really fault the guy.

He's usually pretty good when he has a script and a director. You might like Salmon fishing in the Yemen.

I never even bothered to try and count in my head, just automatically assumed they were doing their math right.

In terms of physical features, her eyes are quite striking. We like the show...
