Hmmm. Didn't he have like the biggest funeral in Hollywood history? Or am I misremembering?

I'm exploring composers born in the 20th century and post war works.
I listened to this Naxos disc on Spotify and liked quite a bit of what I heard:

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

That one is a shot in the dark for me. I do not know the music of Valentini but I am quite prepared to give it a go with Ensemble 415 / Banchini performing.

I heard Valentini on the radio this afternoon, the new recording by Acronym. Reminded me of Biber.

TD: Tchaikovsky 5 (Gatti). And disc of Ravel by Dutoit instead of what I ordered. :(

I once received a cassette of Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits instead of what I ordered, in a box (for some strange reason) nearly the size of a shoe box. I've always wondered what the other fella thought when, instead of his Orbison, he got my Stravinsky.

Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

I am still looking for the short piece Vocalism (also called A-Yi, I think). It should fall into film music category since it was composed for a short animated feature, I think. Is it included in the film set?

I don't think it is (I could be wrong), but it was released on this LP:

I haven't bought into the cassette revival, but as random music recordings go, you could do a lot worse than Roy Orbison. :)

Could qualify as super-duper cheap bargain. There's still one copy left at the time of writing... ;)

Saw that as well, already have it though - great performances!

Great to hear that, king ubu!

And congratulations for the wonderful haul(s) you posted yesterday. I own many of those, e.g. the Hindemith, most of the Ediciones Singulares--what a great job these fellow Spaniards do in collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru Zane reviving neglected French music !!!!  :) )--and enjoy them very much. Actually, I recall thinking of the Kreutzer La Mort d'Abel that it's a rather fascinating piece... :)

But I'm surprised international CD prices haven't skyrocketed: it seems someone in Zurich is trying to corner the market!  ;D

Regards,

I've not listened to any of those Ediciones Singulares releases yet, but indeed they look great, the exhaustive comments/essays on the music will make for some fascinating reading too, I'm sure!

Btw, there are some similar releases on Ricercar as well (the one I posted above, and at least one more - different package but also high-format books with lots of writing ... different label, but I think same gyus behind it.

And of course glad to hear about the Kreutzer being interesting, as I just took a chance there (I do read up stuff on the internets before I order, but that's not a safe way to make sure it'll really be worthwhile of course).

The J C Bach Amadigi is great as I remember it.

I am one sick individual...I placed another order with Amazon Japan:

I'm hoping this will be my last purchase of the year or at least until after Christmas. If I keep telling myself this, I should be fine. ;)
