Four discs of Dowland (which may well prove all the Dowland I need)

Very nice, Karl. I also have the Nigel North recordings, I love the sound quality, it's as if Nigel is in my living room.  :o

EXCELLENT, Ray!!! Those are two amazing recordings. They're not the first Berg and Schoenberg recordings I've heard, but they made me appreciate these two composers even more. Hope you enjoy the music, Ray. :)

Two box sets of symphonies (well, not boxes actually but rather CPO's usual habit of enclosing individual jewel cases in cardboard) inspired by the discussion in the Six Neglected Composers thread: Rangström and Wellesz. While at JPC I happened to see the Karlowicz disc. Wit does such a terrific job in the other Karlowicz discs I own I thought he'd be the man to do the Symphony proud too.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

I haven't heard the Symphony yet, but Wit/Warsaw's 'Episode at a Masquerade' is a master-class in Straussian opulence.

Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Will be interesting to hear what you think considering the disagreement around these recordings and the composer.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

In the mail today a CD that's been talked about, recommended many times. Symphony No.3 by Master Bate (sorry, I couldn't restrain my inner Butthead ;D )

If you like the Walton/Hindemith style you'll like this, butt or no butt, I did. I was far less convinced by the 4th, also on Dutton, but need to relisten.

I'm betting a harpsichord.  :D
