I'm a sucker for this genre. I don't quibble much here.

Great, great show. I always liked his (Garry Sandling's) delivery and low key approach. His show is still brilliant all these years later.

I love Gary but the Hank-centered Episodes are my favorite!
Has anyone ever been better in a TV role than Jeffrey Tambor as Hank Kingsley? There cannot be many.

I just saw the episode where the Larry impersonator visits the show, upsets Arthur, so Arthur starts strangling him. Hank runs into the room, attempting to break it up, yelling leave Larry alone!

Having said that, I think Rip Torn did at least as well as Jeffrey Tambor. Guess that's just one more thing that makes this such a great show.

Hank's For The Memories . . .

It has bugged me that I knew I had seen him elsewhere;  had to consult his filmography to be reminded that he was Tom Manning in Hellboy.

He played a cross dressing/transvestite judge on Hill Street Blues! Guess his career went full circle! Hanks Sex Tape is HILARIOUS! That episode had me laughing to tears.

Finished season 15 of Doctor Who, currently getting through season 7 and I've been having another watch of some episodes in seasons 1 and 2. My internet is down so I haven't been able to keep up with season 37 (aka Series 11) but I will catch up on the last episode when it gets back.

Finished season 7 and I might watch season 8 next.....

Season 7 was just so good I feel it might spoil things slightly to have more from that era of the show without a break. I might actually try season 16 for something different.

On thursday night I watched the "finale" of "Babylon Berlin" (technically end of season II but season I did not have a proper ending and they were aired back to back here) on actual free TV. This is supposedly the most expensive TV series ever done in Germany. Fun fact, most of the money came from the obligatory payments every household has to pay but the show premiered about a year ago on the pay TV broadcaster that had joined in the production - that's how PPP usually works...

It's not bad, in fact it is very good as far as the costumes, buildings etc. go. It is overall very well done. It also does a decent job with somewhat grey characters, although of course the most evil guys are the (not yet too powerful) nazis, the nationalist monarchists and the Soviets. I read the book it was based on (only the first of a series, but I only read the first) a few years ago and while the beefed it up quite a bit and maybe overdid some things, it probably improves somewhat on that book (which is way too long, among other things).
OTOH I would have found some things quite confusing if I had not read the book (and as I said, they basically added at least one additional major plot and several minor ones and most of the characters remain rather pale.
They are now filming the next season.

Last night, Spanish TV aired the three chapters of the excellent 2014 BBC series, 37 Days, which covers the events from the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo to the outbreak of WW1 (from the perspective of dealings in Whitehall and, to a lesser extent, in Berlin):

Very well acted and dramatised, and full of interesting information. Highly recommended.

I'm watching Twin Peaks Event Series on Blu-ray. I saw this on TV a year ago. While I liked it, I was a bit confused about how different the event series is compared to the original Twin Peaks series. Also, I found the story rather confusing. This time around I was "mentally" ready for this. I knew it's different, practically a new TV series with Twin Peaks element in it. It's more cynical/violent and goes deeper into Lynch's dark imagination. I think Lynch has been influenced by newer "slow" TV shows such as Breaking Bad.

Twin Peaks Event Series has so much characters in it! It's all over the place! All over the US and beyond! Even in time! It has so many simultaneous storylines that are connected together. Original Twin Peaks was easier and simpler. It had the main storyline around Cooper/Laura Palmer and then addional small storylines that had little to do with the main storyline (relationships etc.) The Event Series wasn't confusing the first time around just because Lynch does confusing weird stuff, but also because I didn't get the plots so well. I have always been bad at following plots, because of asperger I think (aspergers need time to absorb new information) and how my memory works. I have hard time remembering side characters, names, etc. When somebody talks about Lisa, I ask "Who was Lisa, oh, was she the mother of Teresa who was shot dead 4 episodes earlier?" The Event series has got so many side characters it's crazy. With the Blu-ray I can pause the story and give my memory time to recall stuff so it helps. I get he plot much better this time and I have been hooked! This is great stuff in many ways and I totally get why people say this is among Lynch's best works.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.

Had not heard of that but it looks good. Thanks.

Curb S9 for the second time. First time I was underwhelmed and noticed some disappointment from fans and critics. Second time: thoroughly delighted and laughing out loud!

Homecoming on Amazon Prime.  This is ten 30 minute episodes, so the story doesn't feel too stretched out.  Recommended.

And the 4th season of Outlander has started...

After really enjoying Last Comic Standing season 9, I am now watching some of the earlier seasons. Right now I am watching Season 7, with  Greg Giraldo, Natasha Leggero, and Andy Kindler as judges. I'm a fan of all three of these comedians, so looking forward to it.

Finished:

Preacher, Season Three. As much fun as ever.

Started:

Homeland, Season Seven. Reminding me why I hated season six - they've turned into a reboot of "24"

Currently on season 16 and 37 at the same time. Season 16 isn't as strong as season 37 so far, but I enjoy the premise of searching for the six segments of the Key to Time as a story arc. The regulars are fun and the guest casts in each serial I've seen have been quite good too. Season 37 is shaping up to be incredibly strong with excellent main characters and a wide variety of settings and adventures, more than what we've seen in the episodes since the continuation of the show. Haven't seen the latest episode yet, but it's about an intergalactic retailer called Kerblam! (sort of like a space Amazon) so it would be interesting to see the angle the show takes on companies such as that.
