New acquisition, first listen.

Nicolo Corradini.
Fra Mattia Vendi.

12 Ricercari Corradini & Canzoni Vendi.

Federico Del Sordo plays on a Graziadio Ategnati (1565) in the Basilica Palatina di Santa Barbara in Mantua.
Temperament: 1/4 comma meantone. Pitch= A4 = 473 Hz.
This organ was restored in 1996-2006.

An Harpsichord by Tony Chinnery, (2009) was tuned to: A4= 421.39 Hz, (A tone lower than the Santa Barbara organ, with 1/5 tone comma meantone temperament.
The ricercare del quinto tuono was performed down a fifth.

As always the performances by Federico Del Sordo are well informed and played to the highest standard possible, as it is in the present recording. So far every release by him is treasured by me. I must admit that both composers were unknown to me, but their music is well worth hearing. Both instruments used are simply wonderful, as is the recording. For Organ buffs this is a must. For connoisseurs this is not to be missed. Can be bought without reservation.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Hello, short intro. since springtime occurs this week, I did a huge
clean up like ever spring,  when saying this, meant clean the floor, my walls(since  occasional cigarettes smoker) clean like and throw away
stuff, re- arranged everything (order), was it worth it, you betcha. After
I had finish, open up all the windows to let it in, settle for a nap, needed fresh air to clean
my house, it's way better, it felt good, minus detail a drunk called me very late this mean at  10 O'clock P.M. Said to him as mutual respect don't called me up wasted first and foremost and after Souper respect my inner peace, leave me be , when listening to music, some people
lack politeness, manners what else can be said.

Whit this minus intro feel fine this morning, will try the unthinkable, marathon listening of Brilliant Classics: The complete Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, England most important keyboards document, can it be done, perhaps, I'm at CD 1, fourteen other more to listen.

or

Could do marathon listening Huelgas ensemble A secret labyrinth, once again huge task 15 CD's counting, can it be  done, of course.

Have a splendid, superb ,wonderful day folks.  8)

Going back to listen to the first half of this album again (it's been a couple of months, during which classical music didn't happen). So I can go on to the 2nd half.

Yes I also enjoyed this very much a couple of weeks ago.  Very recommendable.
At the moment I am much into early Italian Baroque organ music.

Stürmisch Bewegt

Listening to the Henze Symphonies over the next coupla days, a surprisingly varied experience, if memory serves, even within the confines of a given symphony!

Leben heißt nicht zu warten, bis der Sturm vorbeizieht, sondern lernen, im Regen zu tanzen.

Brahms: Piano Quartet No. 1
Dvořák: String Quartet No. 13

I had forgot how passionate and endearing the 3rd movement is. Some of Brahms' most romantic pages. However, I thought this performance and recording weren't totally satisfying in the 2nd and 4th movements.

What I can say about the Dvořák is: perfection. Thoroughly brilliant music, impeccable performance, superb recording. One of those masterpieces that possesses such a degree of mastery that one can't help but be absorbed by its splendid craft.

The Dvorak 13th is my favorite string quartet of all time - an absolutely staggering masterpiece.

Traditional music is the root of all classical music
I have also a complete reording with Aïcha Redouane who as a singer from Morocco   saved the classical music from Egypt for posterity, and loved by one of the forum members.  :)

Chopin, Frederic - Nocturnes w/ Michele Boegner on a Pleyel 1836 piano; second pic is Chopin's own 1846 Pleyel piano (would like to know what 10-year differences might have been made?) - for those interested, there is some renewed posting in the 'Chopin Nocturne' thread HERE, mainly discussing 'period instruments' performances of these works by other keyboardists.  Dave :)
