THAT DEVILIN' TUNE: A JAZZ HISTORY 1895-1950 (West Hill Radio Archive, four volumes, 36cd)
All curated by Allen Lowe, with his book of the same title split across all four volumes "as" liner notes or commentary.  Normally I don't go in for comps like this, but I have fond memories of working my way through an ancient Smithsonian HISTORY on LPs, many years ago (but already in the depths of LPs' extinction, temporary it turned out).  Lowe's history is much stranger and more heterodox and polemical.

Joe Maneri, Barre Phillips, Mat Maneri: TALES OF ROHNLIEF (ECM)
Joe Maneri's playing is about as uncomfortable for me as Jerry Lewis; I've come to savor Maneri in single doses...Lewis, not so much.

Agree!

I have yet to listen to it . . . that's a lacuna to which I should soon attend.

Two phenomenal collections!

I too have been going back and listening to these recordings.

I have a couple of albums from that Concept Albums period (In The Wee Small Hours, Only the Lonely) but fourteen albums for under $40 is a ridiculously good deal.  I'm looking forward to it. :)
