College Republicans launch campaign calling for GOP to take action on climate change

"College Republicans across the country are calling on the GOP to back a conservative climate action plan, arguing that failing to do so will hurt both the future of the earth and the Republican Party.

The new group, Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends, is lobbying Republicans to embrace a "Carbon Dividends" plan which aims to reduce carbon emissions with a free-market-based solution.

"What we're hoping to do is amplify the voices of young conservatives. This really is a generational issue," said Kiera O'Brien, a Harvard University senior who is founder and president of the climate campaign.

"Especially given the rise of the Green New Deal," O'Brien continued, referencing the progressive climate action proposal, "we need to have our own alternative policies, because we can't just complain about the problem and not propose a solution."[...]

dissily Mordentroge

But are they wiling to remove Trump to accomplish so limited an aim?
If they don't they're engineering the end of the Republican Party.

The history of Repub alternatives is that they are vaporware generated by a tiny powerless group playing an ideological role like that of theologians in religion. They offer their thoughts so it can be said thoughts were offered. See, we are serious people, very thinky about important stuff.

The whole Peloton ad thing is the newest stupid controversy. The actress thinks the outrage is caused by her facial expressions  ;D.

Nah, we all know it's just ideologues who want to virtue signal. If you put on tinted glasses, you'll see the world in a tinted way.

Anyone see the whole news story reported on several sites that PewdiePie was quitting youtube?

It's literally fake news, he even makes a video saying how they intetpreted him saying he's taking a break as him saying he's quitting.

And these were sites that of course bring up his past controversies (according to left wing perspectives).

It's like they are in lockstep with the fake reporting.

Ha, a very specific and blatant example of rampant fake news might actually be somewhat important because the web sites that made these stories are probably the worst offenders of fake news.

Regardless of one's political stance, it will make these news sites untrustworthy for not getting their facts straight (some of them in an opportunity to do the usual virtue signaling when writing a story about him)...

He did recently quit Twitter, though, and made an entire video about he hated it because it rewards virtue signaling rather than being an actually "virtuous person" (according to how Greek philosophy conceives of it).

What sites? What "virtue signalling"? Links and examples please...if you're going to say this non-story is worth rating them "untrustworthy".

The video of him commenting on it:

~3:10-

One I found:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/breaking-pewdiepie-quits-youtube-saying-21102288

Another one (at least "quitting" is in quotation marks, even though he never even used the word, so it's quoting no one but themselves) :

I consider there to be at least two types of virtue signaling. One is direct ("oh look at me, I'm so tolerant and diverse").

The other one is indirect. It can extend to non-political realms, often, as well. It is the "look at this bad guy," which is implying that the writer is not like the bad guy, therefore is a good guy. (it's public shaming which many normal people can indulge in against people who are either suspected, or confirmed, to be bad guys).

When they write a short article about him, why immediately bring out those controversies? He has already admitted that sometimes he makes mistakes and goes too far with his jokes or swearing. And of course, bring up the Christchurch incident which he had absolutely nothing to do with. There are a million things you could write about him, why choose those? I suspect it is virtue signaling to the readership, who is probably more liberal (I could be wrong, haven't really researched those sites much), because that's the stuff they eat up.

But yeah, considering using the word "quitting" is stretching the truth, you have to wonder how often these writers will stretch the truth in order to get clicks.
