Quote"I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference anymore which political party is running things. Nothing gets done," said Roy Gustafson, 61, of Camden, South Carolina, who lives on disability payments. "The state would be better off handling things on its own."

Roy Gustafson:  registered to vote in The Palmetto State, but for the time being, a resident of The Twilight Zone.

Well, and two in five Americans don't know whether Europe is north or south of the Equator, right?

You think that folks in South Carolina would have noticed that it didn't work out the last two times they tried it?

And yet in the other thread you imply you want high voter turnout. All my friends do. I'd prefer fewer but better voters. If you are voting because you think Obama will buy you a phone or you like Palin's looks I'd prefer you not not vote at all.

I would rather someone voted for Palin based on her (IMO non existent) looks than on her foreign policy ideas.  A low information voter is not as bad as a low information politician.

Unassailable points.  Probably quixotic, but I have this idea of more and better voters.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky is back in the news, challenging Putin.  Perhaps a pool could be started to guess the cause of Khodorkovsky's potentially untimely demise?  Let's see:

1.) "Heart attack"
2.) Unfortunate car accident
3.) Unfortunate plane accident
4.) Bronstein headache
5.) Polonium in his coffee

Whatever happens we have the man to take Putin down:

Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Why did America's oldest Episcopal seminary fire most of its faculty?
"The Very Reverend Mr. Dunkle" sounds like a classic "bad boss," racist and hostile to his subordinates.  It's shameful that the board sided with him rather than with their faculty. :(

I have an unusual religion, too. Sadly, they wouldn't let me take a picture even though I can't remove my "headgear" (which is actually my head). Showing up at the DMV one day like this:
