Nothing fishy here.
The news today is that there is a secret passage into his apartment!

This next link ties together some issues we have discussed. 1) gun laws and 2) selective enforcement.
QuoteThe short version is that the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department warned NBC News that it could not possess an actual high-capacity magazine, but NBC News went ahead and did it anyway. The MPD recommended a warrant for Gregory's arrest, but that request was nixed by the D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan because — my paraphrase — Gregory was just too nice a guy and had no other criminal intent.

That attitude stood in stark contrast to the D.C. Attorney General's vigorous prosecution of other lesser-known people who also were nice people and had no other criminal intent, but violated D.C.'s gun laws.

Whether a law is good or bad it is surely wrong in general to have one standard for rich offenders who commit the crime in front of a million witnesses, and another for the poor man convicted on a cop's say-so.

Further update! Not just a secret passage but
QuoteBuenos Aires (AFP) - Argentine President Cristina Kirchner said Thursday she believes that a prosecutor who died under suspicious circumstances was murdered in a plot to implicate her government in a cover-up of a 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center.

This could be dropped on several threads but I'll put it here.

It will work this time.

Someone, I forget who, remarked that the best way to understand any organization's behavior is to assume it is controlled by a secret cabal of its enemies.

Merci.

The Great Terror is one of my favourite books. I also like Conquest's summary, addressed to western leftists, of the evidence that came out of the KGB archives: "I was right you fucking fools."

Lol, I saw that one yesterday. Would have been nice if it had been prepared, so he could comments like, "And the gates of hell are opening up in Cave Creek, with a forecast of demon armies spreading to Wicked... err, Wickenburg."

Two of our regulars are vindicted once again.

Todd was right about the spread of animism and the attentendent decline of human rights.
Florestan was right about the American left being self-righteous f*ck-wits.
