Kimi is here on my lap. She asks me to do this:

:)    ;)    :D    :(    :o    :P    :-[    :-X    :-\    :-*    :'(    >:D

She tells me these are her favorites.

Kimi sends her love to everyone here!

Tell Kimi somebody from Georgia says "Hello!" Such a sweet girl you've got there, Paul. Bless you and yours.

Did Kimi watch the race today?

Those precious one-liners were the highlights of the race. ;D

No, none of us watched the race, unfortunately.

"Leave me alone. I know what to do" does sound like something my Kimi would say!

That's too bad. It was one of the best entertainers of the year, and occasionally even included some racing!

Today Kimi asked Vanessa to buy a IPhone for her because she absolutely needs it. She explained that she has her own friends and wishes to have the freedom to contact them and make arrangements to get together for lunch, go to the park or just chat.
"I am not a little baby anymore, you know."

Look at the photo on my avatar. She does not look like a 4 1/2 year old.

Quite the young women.  I think you'd better start looking for the best phone plan with unlimited minutes you can find.

Christmas According to Kimi

It is Christmas Eve here in Beijing. I put on some Christmas music. But Kimi, who counts Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Bach as her favorite, objected: "I don't want to listen to Bach on Christmas. I want to listen to Buddhist mantra chants."

After we ate, I told her we are going to shop for her presents. She can pick what she wants.
"I will pick what I want first, and then what Kevin wants, what Lily wants, what Sarah wants..."
"Wait! We are only buying Christmas presents for you, Kimi."
"No! You have to buy one for everyone in my kindergarten class!"
"Why is that?"
"Most of them don't celebrate Christmas. So most of them won't have Christmas presents. So they won't be happy. Christmas won't be Christmas unless every kid is happy. So you have to buy one for everyone!"

So, I will soon be on my way to buy Christmas presents for everyone, while listening to Buddhist mantras in my car.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Kimi is ill again. She definitely have pneumonia, and now we suspect she might also have myocarditis, which is life threatening. Fingers crossed. I have hardly slept in 4 days.

But two days ago she moved me so much. We were getting I-V for her in the transfusion room. Per her request I went to a toy vending machine to get a couple of toys for her. But as luck (or lack of it) would have it, both time we got the exact same toy. So we had 2 of the same.

Kimi said we should give the extra one to another child. I agreed and told her when she gets better, she could give it to one of her kindergarten mates.
"Why wait till then? Give it to one of the kids in this room."
"But you don't know any of them."
"Why do I have to know them?"
So we gave it to a girl next to us.

That girl was the most obnoxious 5 year old I have ever seen. She did not say thank you. Then she told (yes, TOLD) her mom to buy her another one so she could be one up on Kimi by having two. She cussed all the time like a drunken sailor. But none of that mattered to Kimi. She as happy that she gave the toy away.

God bless Kimi.

Thank you, Karl!
You have to admire the resilience of a little girl. 2 Days ago she was in danger and now she's riding me like a pony!

Also funny on the way back from the hospital: Mom was so happy and relieved after 10 days of intense stress, Vanessa talked a lot in the car. Kimi protested repeatedly: "How many times do I have to tell you: DO NOT TALK when I am listening to BEETHOVEN! I can't hear the music! What you are saying is NOT as important as Beethoven!" (It was Beethoven's PC #3)
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I'll relate that to my wife and mom-in-law, they'll get a huge kick out of it, too!

Elated by the news. Good to see Kimi 'telling it like it is' again.

kishnevi

Very good news to hear.  I supposed Kimi's approved musical response would involve the words "schoener Gotterfuenken, Tochter aus Elysium".
