Dude, there is no such thing as Leafs, only in your lexicon. You probably pronounce it like that as awell leeefss. It's leaves. Stop arguing.

No, they call themselves "Leafs" because they're named after the symbol, not the leaf itself. There is no other correct usage of "leafs" in the English language.

The famous artist Loren D. Adams, Jr. sent me a letter today and I wanted to share it with some members of this site who belittle my art to let them see that when it comes to art, real artists strongly disagree with them and that their attack on my art stemmed from jealousy or other negative motives.
The letter:
Aloha from the island of Maui...
Hello Saul,
It is never too much bother to both appreciate & comment on
good Art-works. As difficult as being an Artist is these days I
wish to set an example by offering as much help and specific
encouragement to Artists as I can. Your talent is exceptional and very unique.
As a professional Art Appraiser I want to pass on a valuable comment
made by Louis J. Miller, who was a very well informed Art authority. Mr.
Miller said; "Unique items have exceptional value." He also said;
"There's a lot of glossy stuff out there." Real Art lacks pretence and does
not have a hesitant stultified look to it. Your Art Mr. Dzorelashvili
is the Real kind
and as such cannot be praised enough in my opinion. Thank you for
using your time to help enrich our collective lives by making such
refreshing images... you may not have any idea how much such work helps all of
us.
In many States in the Civil Codes where Art is appreciated and set
apart it is recognized as "the exact opposite of Crime" because it enhances
Culture.
Please pass this good news on to those who deserve it along the way
through-out your life. You'll recognize the work easy because it will be
very sincere and spontaneous without any objective other than sharing
the image.
In closing I only wish to say that it's an honour to call you a friend.

Good! Here's another, just finished about 2 days ago: an illustration of the nameless creature from John Campbell's seminal sci-fi tale, "Who Goes There?" When Howard Hawks filmed it (as "The Thing from Another World") the monster was James Arness in a Frankenstein suit; when John Carpenter filmed it (as "The Thing") he got the shape-changing right, but never showed us the Thing the way the author described it. They're "painted" directly to computer, with VicMan (drawing freeware I've had a while) and MSPaint. I've been thinking of buying some better software and a WiCom pad; I'm drawing by mouse and I'm sure that could be improved. That one doesn't seem to me as successful as the John Campbell monster piece. The background is a bit too busy and the foreground elements (which I take to be all the blue circles or ovals) don't really dominate and stand out as well as the Thing does in your other picture.

That one doesn't seem to me as successful as the John Campbell monster piece. The background is a bit too busy and the foreground elements (which I take to be all the blue circles or ovals) don't really dominate and stand out as well as the Thing does in your other picture.

Funny that you of all people say that, after all, you look like a baboon, and you behave like a monkey, too...Making fun of the way someone looks is about the most idiotic and childish thing to do, but you bring the level of discourse down that much.
Anyway, here is another M masterpiece. It is called "loneliness":

M has inspired me. I call this "The Haircut"
That looks more like a headcut though.
Not as minimalist and to-the-point as my art, but that is the result of many years of sublimination and compression of the most important elements in visual art. Still, I can see that you have something to say and a desire to communicate it. I like the reference to East Asian calligraphy expressed by the tapered strokes (can you do that in MS Paint, too?). The desperately raised arms of the figure - is it a self-portrait or a general comment about humanity and its suffering? - are very expressive and draw the observer in, invite him to participate in the headless suffering. I see a strong social commentary in these lines.
This is my own take on this very important subject, the haircut:

I like 'the haircut' even more!
Oh my god, M. I'm dying here! :D
My final piece of the evening. I cannot create anymore tonight. It is too difficult and painful to create such great artworks as mine and an artistic genius must have his rest.
I call this one: "M Forever"

This is a very powerful work, BTW, eloquent, maybe even verbose, but full of meaning and poetry. I can see you are telling my story there. There is an M at the beginning of the line, and then it continues to outline the shape of the state of California (where I used to live) which evolves into the coastline of Massachusetts (where I live now) - but mirrored (yet the characteristic outreaching shape of Cape Cod can be clearly identified), a bold and elegant recreation of my journey. Thank you!

Thank you, too (and she says thanks! also). This is one of my most personal and condensed works, about a very personal subject, one of the few which are actually in color. Brown tones dominate here because she has brown skin, dark brown eyes and very dark brown, almost black hair (yes, she is "Hispanic" American). The red dot denotes my pounding heartbeat when she is hugging me.

Using Saul's pricing structure, that oughta fetch over $10K ....... easily!
Do you want to insult me? My art is not for sale! I am here to enrichen the world with my artistic visions, not make money from it.
But if you have to have a copy signed by the Master himself, I think we could find a solution, maybe one involving a very large cash donation...I am thining more in the range of 100k here...great art is priceless and therfore can't be sold. The cash donation would just cover the, uh, processing fees.

That can't be M tthough because M would never play with a glove, and the left hand there has some serious problems. The 4th finger is extended way too far and the 1st is too close to the second.

You still look like a baboon, and you talk like a monkey. OK, monkeys can't really talk, but if they could, they would probably say a lot of nonsensical stuff like you do. You are only one step away from sitting on a tree and throwing bananas at people walking by anyway with all your fanatical nonsense. I don't believe you anyway that people find you "handsome" - the way you talk about women shows clearly that you have big problems with them which you wouldn't if you were more self confident. I think your religious racist nonsense is also mostly overcompensation for some deep dissatisfaction with yourself.

"But mice and rats, and such small deer,
Have been Tom's food for seven long year."
- The disguised Edgar in King Lear
(In 1600 "deer" would be closer to its cognate German "Tier." Edgar is referring to mice, rats, and similar small animals.)
In the old Germanic languages, the equivalent of "deer" or, as in modern German, "Tier", is one of four classes they divided animals into. These are, in their modern German names:
"Tier" - is what walsk in the forest
"Wurm" - is what crouches on its belly
"Vogel" - is what flies
"Fisch" - is what swims in the water
So in the middle ages, people in Germany often ate beaver on Friday because it swims in the water and therefore is a fish :D

But again, it will go on , and the poopheads wont stop and then they will cause me to really make fun of them, and the a mod will come to close the thread.
The end result, the poopheads will win, because WHY SHOULD THERE BE EVEN A SINGLE NORMAL AND SERIOUS THREAD HERE ON GMG? THAT WOULD BE AGAISNT THE RULES I SUPPOSE.

Youre whole life is one big poop.
So lets sum it up:
You are a poop
Living in your poop life
With your poop girlfriend
Eating the poop that she cooks
Comes out to be
Poop eating poop in his poopy poopful pooplife.
Me wonders why should I converse with someone so sick and dumb as you M?
Yes , youre right, there is no reason for me to pay any attention to a schmuck like you.
So clean your stuffy poopy ears :
I will not talk to you or respond to you or read anything you have to say here or anywhere else. From now own , you do not exist for me.
Go to hell and stay there, thats where a poophead such as your stupid self belongs.
Reading Saul's posts makes me want to beat the shit out of somebody >:(
His posts look to me like an extremely vulgar diatrab with all bad words replaced with 'poop.' At least, that's the only way I can justify its continued usage.
Poop.

Why Saul, what if the rabbi of your congregation knew you were writing such things on the Internet? Would he say this is the conduct of a righteous Jew, a mensch? I would suspect instead he'd smack your tukkus until it was bright red for treating others so disrespectfully.
If only people could be temporarily banned as a warning against gross immaturity. Oh shit, then I'd be gone... 0:)
Yes, people could be banned, their posts edited or removed, the entire subject be blocked, or even removed. I pondered all those possibilities after having read everyone of them - oh the pleasure of being a moderator! ::) - and decided to leave all the exchanges intact for everybody else to read the exhibition of immaturity, rudeness and lack of civility displayed by the posters. I am an optimist and hope it will be a lesson and the perpetrators will spare us future evidence of their low respect for and tolerance of their fellow GMG members.

That's why I have said many times before that you are totally unqualified to be a moderator. You often don't get at all what's going on and many times, you delete the wrong posts when people complain. You also don't get that in this thread, Saul is the only one who oversteps from *teasing* other people which we do a lot here (like grownups often do) to direct, ultraprimitive insults.
I got banned once for attacking Saul in a much milder form.
I think he should get banned now.

Well, this is not a democratic republic, so we won't be having a poll. FWIW, my take on Saul is that he simply loves being abused, and throws out "abuse me" lures on a regular basis. And most of the "far-more intelligent" people here don't seem to have the wit to toss the bait, but rather, they swallow it down every time. I highly doubt that a character such as Saul could tolerate being ignored, which is what most of his postings deserve. If you really wanted to send him off, he would soon be bored with being ignored and leave on his own.
Meanwhile, all this poop stuff is just crap. Let's quit that, shall we? :)

I will also add here, that I don't recall M being banned....Rob placed some restrictions on him and he took his leave and then subsequently returned. In fact, I can recall two such leavetakings.
If, Saul, you have really decided to ignore M and that you will not be making further response; then we can put the day in the diary as one which produced real progress.
Now, if anyone sees posts that break the rules, let us know.

I've read them all, Saul. In this case, your motives were probably just as you say. That is frequently not the case. And the accusations that you immediately revert to primitive defensiveness are quite valid.
Poster: "I don't really like that"
Saul: "You are an idiot"
How can any exchange fail to deteriorate from there?
In any case, I have read far too many of your posts over the years that you could convince me at this point in time that you aren't intentionally trying to get people to rag back at you so you can create your own chaos. I honestly don't believe that anyone is SO insensitive that he can't foresee the reaction that will be forthcoming from some of the things you post. Therefore, since I think you are actually a lot smarter than you would have people believe, I can only think that you do it on purpose. My advice then is "ignore him".

No, M got totally banned, and in the wake of that, several other posters left (among them Nigel W.) in protest to the ban and especially because it was the result of a confrontation between me and Saul, of all people, who really is more or less the most superfluous and annoying poster here. I don't remember exactly about what it was though, but maybe it will come back to me...

No you did not, though Nigel did leave when he was told you had decided to leave. Rob placed some restrictions on the way you could post and after a short time you decided you would rather not be here. You joined the new site; no one had any restrictions on them at that point.
I even recall your leavetaking, it excoriated everyone on the site and claimed no one was worth conversing with.
I am certain of what I am saying, I am also sure you are not trying it on; but have simply forgotten the circumstances. Rob has virtually never banned anyone.
Mike
Keep telling yourselves, it's only a message board, it's only a message board...
You are right, this is a virtual world and it contains virtual lives. This sprawling dysfunctional family that bites and squabbles is not reality. I am thankful for that, big time.

This is the way I remember the whole affair also. I thought it was a sad day for the entire project when this all took place. In any case, to the best of my knowledge the only poster who ever got outright banned was Herman, and that after he
dared Rob to do it! (I saw the message he sent. Banning was too good for him). In any case, let's let all this crap, er, poop float off downstream where it belongs and get back to music. IIRC, that's what we came here for.

You are right, I was "on parole" once and also deleted my account once or twice, but I also got actually banned once, early last year, a few months before the new forum was started and everyone was "amnestied". I just can't remember right now what it was that I got banned for (it did have something to do with the poop man, but I don't recall the exact circumstances right now, and it's not that important anyway - but it was pretty funny). It was something along the lines of Dr Poop posting something like "does music have this or that effect on us?" and I said something like "some music does, but yours doesn't" and that was it - the next time I logged on, the account was gone.
Yep Lethe, you are right, Michel/Paul....who is doing fine. I am in regular contact with him. He drops in now and again; as Rob in effect lifted bannings when he started the new site. There was also a very lively guy who only posted because he was banned for three months somewhere he really preferred to post.
He stuck us with a whole lot of porn including one which Gurn and I make each other shudder with by referring to, 'Man with Fish'.
After that incident, Rob ensured the Mods could delete from the areas of the site that he previously had retained sole rights over. He had been 'away' when the fishy stuff was posted, which meant it sat there and was considerably added to for a couple of days. I don't recall the guy's name, but Rob certainly banned him.
Mike
Well, M, as you say, it is not vital just now, but none of the Mods recall it. Mind you Michel is a friend of mine, and I clear forgot he got banned....more than once.
Mike
Man with fish? :o
M, Believe me, you don't want to know....Gurn and I can bring out the sweats of horror on each other with the merest allusion to it. Gurn knew what kind of fish it was, he knows that kind of arcane stuff.
There was yards of the most inventive stuff from this guy. I recall Lis tracked back the URLs and discovered it was all from a site where payment has to be made to gain access. Gurn and I were too much in shock to have thought of tracing the stuff.
He and I are still in therapy, Lis is made of sterner stuff.

This reminds me a similar situation which was more extensive, many years ago......
i wrote a short story in 4th grade which was a SMASH hit, my friends kept on reading it again and again and again until they memorized the whole thing. One day, someone stole my story from my desk! And to this day, I never found out..... one friend says the other took my story, the other accuses the other friend. So I rewrite it from memory. And then my friend corrects me several times, to word it exactly.

Think how more successful they would be at stealing stuff if they weren't so lazy and stupid.

Hehehe, same here, although I work in a charity shop (well, 6 hours a week), which makes it funnier. People actually try to switch fucking price tags to get a "better deal" in order to give less money to victims of natural disasters.

yep, i hear the price tag switching is common..... they've probably done that a few times to me, not knowing the names and prices of everything (or being able to check all the time).

well, i was actually talking about two different people.......
the attempted thievery was actually pretty clever. But there's just some customers who really expect other people to do everything, and don't even know what they're doing...
a similar case- a guy a few weeks ago calls me and asks for someone to get him a piece of wood, and it was something small like a 2x2 or something- at the end of the night, when he could take 2 minutes to walk back and find it, and carry it in his hand. It was more work to call than to go back there.

i haven't talked to any of them for years...... :(
i don't even know where they live. But one I often dream of- in fact, there's about 4 or 5 old friends that i dream of all the time.
I found his myspace profile a long time ago (which he obviously doesn't use cuz of his last login date) and just now I remember to act on a search for him on facebook. Well, he's there...... don't plan to message him, though. Or should I? I'm scared ;D
Just remembered when we used to make fun of his name...... it's "James" (J.J.) Aleshire...... so we combine it into something ridiculous. "Gay J Ashley". Some kid mispronounced his name on the morning school news- sounded like he said "Ashley", plus we used to call him "Tay Tay" or "Gay Gay" but he didn't like the latter lol. Or I'd call him "Knoll" (or was that my name?) with the "K" pronounced. And then there was "Gnome" (with the G pronounced) by i think that was the "name" we called the girl that sat by us that year..... the other i can't remember......
OK, let's return to the actual subject of the thread - Saul and his "art".
I have pointed this out before, I find it highly interesting to see the many parallels between some large-scale fanatics - like Hitler - and small-scale fanatics - like Saul, especially when it comes to "artistic" aspirations. The parallels are striking - and frightening, in a way: a level of mediocre "artistic" talent that produces kitsch post card art (and/or music), cheap imitations of naive naturalistic art, combined with extreme conservativism and fanatic belief in a religious or ideological system plus the firm conviction of belonging by birthright to some kind of "superior" or "chosen" racial/ethnic/religious group, the same black-and-white view of people as either part of the same groups or friends or eternal enemies. Like I said, the parallels are striking.
Discuss.
I think the only person who'll "discuss" this with you is The Man himself. I personally think that he must exhude an air of fragility when talking about his art in person. Why else would such praise be heaped upon such works? Perhaps "art" is taking a new direction, where intentional self-parody is a deeper form of expression.
We already had that, a long time ago. Remember Dada? Among other things. But the kind of person I am describing here is completely serious abut and completely convinced of these things, that's what makes them so (potentially) dangerous.
I don't think Saul is dangerous. He has no charisma.
He looks sharp in a beret, though.

You said this before and I thought it was interesting, definitely a resemblance. I can just imagine someone trying to critique the artwork of Hitler or the poetry of Stalin while they were in power.... i doubt anyone did (not to mention that i bet they probably didn't have much time for that stuff, anyways)......
Winston Churchill could paint, too, though.

British-Iranian comic Omid Djalili. Do a youtube search. Best known outside these shores as an 'exotic' extra in e.g. The Mummy
(Coincidentally, the same French teacher's sister-in-law was also an extra on that film. It was being shot next door to Titanic, big fake ship 'n all, and apparently she took advantage of this fact to slip on 'deck' after hours with her boyfriend and....use your imagination. Won't be able to see the film the same way again - though I've avoided seeing it all as much as possible so far)
