Those Martinu discs are very, very fine.
I have one of them; that box will be very tempting..

I tried to listen to this this morning but I gave up. There's a lot of spoken commentary at the start of each madrigal, and they've cued it so that you can't just skip it by skipping a track. The music making seems rather good, with some of the frisson of a live event captured on the recording, but I couldn't listen to much of it.

What a shame they've not cued it to allow for more flexible listening! They want to impose their dramatic concept on us.

That one looks interesting. I can well have a go at it. Thanks for the heads up.  :)

Thanks for the warning. I was about to order this but I really don't like the idea of a lot of spoken commentary repeatedly intruding on the music. It's a shame, because Rore is still not well represented on CD.

That's a downer...and definitely a deal breaker... ???

That problem could be solved by using Magix music cleaning lab and erase the spoken parts. The fact remains that it is very annoying but there is a solution.

This occurred to me, though not Magix, I could do it with cue files and cue splitters. I decided that I'll listen to it for a while on spotify and see whether I think it's worth the trouble.

When the idea crossed my mind I wondered whether the same strategy would work for Leonhardt's Kuhnau, but unfortunately no way. He talks over the music!

I sampled it on Spotify and saw that it was a live performance that they recorded which, I suppose, made it more engaging in a theatrical setting.  But it is not for me.

It might be interesting to know, whether he actually talks while playing, or if the talking is after-synchronized.

I would guess the latter, because the talking doesn't seem to be in synch with the music.

Agreed. I have done that with Audacity before, removing applause and other irritants. If I wanted this music, that would not stop me. I'm going to rip it to flac anyway so why not edit it?

So much less was the reason to put it there. A severe case of Leonhardtic misjudgement.

I have a F. Couperin (Naive) with very annoying talking problem. Superb music and performance, but the talking ruins it all.  :P
