Cut Circle released a new Josquin Motets and chansons recording, which seemed promising but I did not like it at all upon first listen. Too rushed and fussy. But curious of others' thoughts.

I believe @Mandryka and @Que have already commented on this CD in the main Listening thread. Both had problems with the performance.

Shock of the new maybe. I love the sopranos! I need to go back to it more, but on the whole I appreciate its madrigalesque quality they find sometimes - clear and independent voices.

It's a three-minute sonata by Marc-Andre Hamelin on his upcoming album. Via Hyperion's notes:

"Hamelin's injunctions to the pianist include 'unctuous and dribbling with flavor', a repeat marked 'oh yeah, once more', 'let's taste everything in this box', a further repeat labelled 'mmm, there are still a few left', and an unapologetic final 'to hell with the diet ... all gone!'."

Probably more fun than Satie's Sonatine bureaucratique.

Glad they are finally releasing "Mendelssohn: The Great Edition" so I can finally throw out my old copy of "Mendelssohn: The Mediocre Edition."

I wonder if there are enough surviving paintings and watercolors by Felix to do 40 CD sleeves for it.

"Mendelssohn: The Mediocre Edition" contains some wonderfully bland performances.  It's my favorite unnecessary big box.
