Ordered a week ago. All Yoann Moulin's earlier recordings are most interesting.

Piano could be interesting, the Stephen Paulello 102

Maybe - maybe not, only a listen will tell. But probably I shall acquire it.

However I shall use the occation to recommend the recording of Albert Cano Smit on Aparté, which Philo mentioned some months ago.

One of the greatest organists of the second half of the last century, until he lost an arm in a motor accident. He also died prematurely from cancer.
He left very few recordings, and unfortunately the programming of this CD doesn't interest me that much.

She's a good pianist in Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin. @Todd may be interested in the Bach. I'll check the Smit AoF - first impressions are that it's very pianistic, stuffed with modern piano effects - but not unimaginatively done. Lots of variety - and that's interesting. He makes me think of Barenboim in some ways.

Have you heard his Sweelinck here?

This is in my telescope. I have a recording of The Art of Fugue from her hands on piano, she is also a pianist. It's good but not exceptional. It's two CDs with some not - IMO - particularly interesting improvisations as fillers.

Nice to see CPO doing some box set reissues! But they need to finish the Kalliwoda series!

It does appear they're doing reissues, but also including other recordings that weren't in the sets whenever they were originally issued. So that's nice to see. They did the same thing with the Aulis Sallinen box set reissue. Besides the symphonies, concerti and orchestral works, they included their chamber music recordings and some other oddity which slips my mind at the moment.

Frim Vol 1 of Boothby's Ferrabosco, I learned that when I'm in the mood for this sort of thing, it is very satisfying indeed.

I don't remember anyone mentioning this, so of course I need to... next Naive Vivaldi.

No I understand that and the music is annoying, but it is quintessential Darasse playing. You can hear the same handiwork as in his Titlouze. It's an orgy of colour, as someone once said. This is why you need to get into the 21st century and get steaming. FFS you're a scientist, you can do it!
