Believe me, I avail myself of the scroll bar quite often.

I never do, I would miss half the fun. If HC wants to leave, he should leave; if he wants to stay, he should stay. But please don't make such a drama out of it.

Killing two birds with one stone, I have also answered mn dave's question.  :D

Didn't he tell us that he was off to Ohio for five weeks from early October? So he won't be back in Germany yet!

Keep up ;D ;D

Unless you're claiming that M had a way of disabling your scroll bar, I don't see what made him impossible to ignore.

I think the art of the scroll bar applies liberally to EVERYBODY. Even you when it comes to those 'one-liner' posts you somehow find such discomfort in. :D

There you have it, H.C. must have decried a thousand times on this board that he has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, and now he is claiming that the notion has never crossed his mind before, and the martyr is offering his phony resolution retire from the field of battle.  However, he waits at his keyboard for his cronies to chime in, "Please, Harry no, don't leave us, we need to know that every disk you load in your CD player is a treasure."  I'm sure they're preparing their missives at this very moment.

There, see? You missed a golden opportunity to practice "scroll bar etiquette".

Live and learn!

Harry

Let me add a few things concerning the fact that I love almost every disc that I put in my player. When I buy, I listen first, and listen some more. Try to lend from my friends this music, and listen even more. If I like it , I buy it, that's logical right? So of course what I play is a treasure to me, and why not. Am I supposed to buy 20 cd's at random, and write later, O , my, what terrible recordings I bought?
I don't think so.
But I write often about duds I bought, for that still happens. Examples, of course! This month: the Guitar quintets of Boccherini on Capriccio, now in use as under layers, two of them. Bach Cantates, with out of tune boy sopranos, on Sony, used as a UFO and made its way to unknown shores. Three cd's for one month, and in total I rejected 19 cd's in 2008.

...I should stop writing about the music I play and like.

You most definitely shouldn't. And - since you resented the relevant comment -  discovering whatever good qualities there are even in recordings you find mediocre or bad is an art in itself. It shows discernment and sound, layered assessment. I personally find your reviews very helpful for this additional reason. Those who rush into judgement based on first impressions make for rather hollow reviewers.

Florestan

To me M's being banned came as no surprise whatsoever. Some members here can testify I predicted it long time ago, immediately after he was re-admitted.

His technical knowledge I will regret not seeing again. His language, manners and general way of expressing himself, not in the least.

Some of you may continue to decry this terrible loss and in the same time malign Harry as much you want. But this I tell you: M will never be, much as he supposedly would try, a quarter as polite, kind and magnanimous as Harry is. For if he delights in obscure recordings of obscure composers it is to the credit of his heart and soul, that try to find goodness and joy everywhere.

What's wrong with the Boccherini quintets, Harry? I've had that big box for quite a while and IIRC the guitar works were very well done. Such lovely works....

Oups! OOT ... ;D

Fully seconded. Please, let no-one be disturbed by a few sharks in this forum and less of all Harry.  >:( ;)

... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

What's amazing here is that even without his name being mentioned, Harry has managed to turn all the attention to himself and to get the same people, once again, to come and support him for some imagined hurt. Do you people ever learn? Seriously, look at past performance, the contradiction has already been pointed out: there's no way in hell he's going to stop posting about this stuff, it's just another ploy to get support. Amazing.

I've said several times before that I could not care less whether Harry continues to post or not. I wasn't even thinking aobut him while writing above. The only thing I will say about this is that I would take M's company any day over Harry's as at the very least you get sincerity from the first and not this monstrous manipulation from the second, and the only reason I say that here is because Florestan, foolishly and pointlessly, decided to write something of the same vein above. Again it's amazing that in order for people to prop up Harry they have to put down someone else -- in this case M. Some of you people really need to get out more, loosen up, gamble a little, do something exciting in your lives, because this is pathetic.

@ezodisy: A pity you spoilt your 1000th posting with unprovoked hate speech.

Congrats on your 1000th post nonetheless!  ;)  :D

first of all it's not a hate speech, it's a response to those who don't see what they are doing: supporting one by pushing down another. Florestan above should in particular hear this.

It is hardly unprovoked either.
