Just ordered the following twofer of English early music.  It is nice to see my early music collection expands from a dozen titles to a few hundred in a little over two years ...

Don't you have the 5-CD collection of Fretwork's English viol music? I think what you just bought is a part of that.

I do.  While I think Lawes is represented in the 5-CD set, it is not clear if all the materials on this twofer are included in the set.  This is a real conundrum - how to do ever avoid any duplicates given the constant re-issues and re-packaging by these record companies.  Actually, I just canceled the order to make sure.

Like it or not, I have 2 dozen of duplicates which I hope to sell at some point.

There is a really simple solution, actually. But this being GMG and you being... well, you, I won't bother you with it. :D ;)

I track my collection on a spreadsheet but do not always update it for every new recording that arrives.  But when that number is over 5000, it is not so easy to track anymore.  Amazon does have this reminder on when I actually purchased a particular CD or CD set but it does not have the intelligence to sort out the repackaged music and it also cannot keep track of what I bought outside of Amazon ...

Need to keep my Vivaldi opera collection up to scratch:

(now I only lack the new Teuzzone)

And recent Parry talk made me add this:

Also includes a sonata and partita from Biber. I really enjoy Il Giardino Armonico's aggressive sound.

If you don't have the rest of their Teldec recordings, you may want to know that their 11-CD 'edition' has been going for comparatively very little at UK Amazon for a few months.

Just made a small (for me) order with Prestoclassical
Only Tippett I have is A Child of Our Time and the string quartets, and recent talk here made me realize I need/want more

having nothing by Kodaly at all, so--

have recordings of these two with what I consider to be deficient sound, so these seemed like good alternatives

have no recording of this opera, and this seemed to be a good way to make up the lack

Pretty nice opera IMO.  I added it to my Vivaldi collection a few months ago ...

Interesting that the Balsom CD is already second hand.  I liked everything on it;  hopefully you will too.
You might want to post the Katsaris cover to the "Worst CD Cover Art" thread :)

This is a surprisingly good modern recording - I have the DVD incarnation. I suppose there is less heft and assurance than the forces in her Sinopoli recording, but I like it about as much.

It is his own label, so he seems to like it. (And I have seen worse :) )
