Yes.  See http://www.good-music-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,6922.0.html

Moderators: any idea where the poll results went in the above link?   :(

Marvin: - I found this post of mine halfway through the thread:

QuoteOK, Up to here Uchida is the overwhelming winner, with 18 votes. She has more than double the votes of the pianist in second place, Wurtz. I will take recommendations of pianists (WHO HAVE RECORDED ALL THE SONATAS) to add to the list and then reset so that we can get ther full scope of the GMG votes.

Something Don and I can agree on.  "Dainty?"  Hardly.  Fluid and lyrical, I'd say.  I like Wurtz, too, but at times she seems a bit heavy handed...for my taste.  As an alternative I can recommend Pires--her early set is a steal on Brilliant.

For non-HIP, I second this early Pires! No Uchida for me, haven't heard Würtz.

But my real preference is HIP: Ronald Brautigam (BIS).

  You mean this one sidoze?

That's the puppy. Only I have it in its original issue ... which is waaaaaaay uglier, believe me. :D

Which proves that even ugly puppies deserve love.  :)

If you are referring to the cover - it's great - a really nice pic

beauty eye beholder etc

Wurtz is certainly not an 'ugly puppy':

The cover of the original issue is ugly, not the reissue.

That's the one I meant.

I think this is going to need some sampling on my part (the Uchida vs. the Wurtz) to see which set I would like better.  Cost is not an issue here since the difference in price between the 2 sets is negligible...that said I have been known to "splurge" every once in a while  ;D..... ::)!

PS:  Mark that Wurtz cover is hideous now that you mentioned it, but I am not one to judge a book by its cover...well at least not in this case anyway.

George those poll results you posted do make the Uchida set very attractive indeed....

Do not limit your choice to just the two recordings that are mentioned most - they don not need to be the ones for you.
And don't forget that posters can only recommend what they know, which does not mean there are no versions out there that even they themselves would have preferred!

Yes, but I think you are wise to hear them both first, For that matter, check out Klien, his 2 2CD sets on Vox are superbly played and are cheap as well.

That's a salient point Que - I have found that most recommendations by people on forums (and I'm being unspecific here) are based on a limited knowledge and often merely because the poster knows and owns just that ONE edition. I always state, when I participate in these types of threads, what my knowledge is and if I have only heard a restricted number of versions.

I agree. She might be on the dainty side, but she makes up for it in other ways.

Such as? Looks?

Yes Great Gable good point, however my experience with GMG has been that some posters here have collections in the 1000s and have multiple >10 recordings of the same work, GMG members never seize to amaze me with their knowledge.
